I bought a Galaxy S3 from Amazon to use mostly for internet/data. The service provider is Consumer Cellular, in attempt to get cheaper service than AT&T. Phone service is fine, but not much cheaper.
The problem is that Google Playstore originally worked properly, but now can't download or upgrade any apps. A Google search finds that lots of users have the same problem with Playstore trying to download but instead just cycling forever. I can download apps from Amazon, so it's not the phone at fault. I have Avast Security, but it's not supposed to interfere with Playstore downloads.
I've tried all the Google troubleshooting suggestions. The only useful thing I've learned is that my phone is an orphan. Turns out it's an "international" phone even though it has an AT&T SIM card. Consequently, Samsung America won't talk to me, and the brand-X service provider is no help. I'm guessing that Playstore has some problem with my international phone. But the Google techs were not able to help.
Can anyone think of another approach to a fix that I haven't already tried? Thanks
