my droid turbo (lollipop) (verizon) just shut off by its self and will turn on but ill only be able to see a black screen and when i hold the power button it will say power off, and i can see when notofications pop up but when i try to open them i get taken back to the black screen. im not sure why this happened all of the sudden all i was doing was holding it.

Either you are low on power due to a faulty charging circuit or your system has become corrupted. You can try a factory/data reset. Warning: this will wipe your phone to new, out-of-the-box state and all apps/data/settings will be lost!
  1. Boot into recovery mode.

    1. How to boot your Droid Turbo into recovery mode:
      1. Power off your phone.
      2. Hold “Volume Down + Power” for at-least 3 seconds and then release the buttons. You'll boot into bootloader mode.
      3. Now Use Volume down key to highlight “Recovery” on the bootloader menu, and then press Volume Up key to select and boot into recovery mode.
  2. From there you should see an option to factory reset the device.
If you still can't see the recovery mode due to black screen, then there is a hardware issue and the phone will need to be repaired or replaced. I know that's not the answer you were hoping for, but it's what I have for you. Hope this helps.
