Please guide me to understand android

I am from India and want to learn about android from the seniors, experienced and join the peers in a wonderful learning environment. I am sure i will get the tremendous support from all of you.

Please guide me to the introductory session about android so that I get myself fimiliarize with the most common terms of android.

I'm not familiar with a specific Android for Beginners tutorial. When I first learned Android I simply dove in and started reading everything I could find online.

Yes, this is the same problem I'm having. Everything on this and any other site I've searched talks in 'tongues'.
I am in a similar position to Surendera in that I've never even handled an Android phone before and frankly I'm 'rooted' to use a term bandied around here but not understood by me (or I venture to say many others).
Why can't some of you more experienced people who are so keen to help others people to develop apps and root flash media sims with dual overhead foxtails and downdraught webber carbs with white sidewalled tyres write something for us noobs IN PLAIN ENGLISH?

Please do NOT think I am unappreciative of the time and effort put in by contributors but sometimes I tend to think that many people just want to show off their 'smarts' to big note themselves, not to help.

As a 'noob' I bought this phone as it was a freebie with my contract and it offered the opportunity for me to stop carrying my large diary about everywhere but so far all i can do with it is make a phone call (and that takes 3 times as many buttons (sorry 'taps') than my old Nokia).

Even the manual that came with my phone (LG Optimus Black) is confusing and takes 1/3rd of the manual (in jargon) to get to the basic function of making a phone call.

So please can someone direct me (and many others) to a BASIC starter site?
