Help Please Help - "Bravo PVT3 SHIP S-ON"

Hi there,

I've got a HTC desire, over 2 years old, never rooted.

For a couple of days starting about a week ago, every time the screen went to screensaver (ie blank) mode, it would actually turn off and require restarting to use again. When I played music however, it wouldn't turn off. Then a couple of days ago, when I turned it on, it just went to a boot-type screen with thre android icons below saying:

BRAVO PVT3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT - 0.93.0001
MICROR - 051d
TOUCH PANE -SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
Aug 10 2010, 17:52:18

HBOOT
<vol up> to previous item
<vol down> to next item
<POWER> to select item

FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE
SIMILOCK

Any ideas? The volume buttons don't actually move anything so I can't really select anything.

Please bare with me, I'm not that phone savvy so if you reply can you please explain in stupid people terms in order to prevent stupid questions from me!

That's the bootloader. You don't normally see it, and booting into it unintentionally is not a good sign.

The worrying bit is the volume key not doing anything. Can you try wiggling it to make sure it isn't stuck? I as because volume down being stuck on would do this.

However, frequent reboots before this are a bad sign, and make me suspect it's not just a stuck button.

Try pulling the battery out & letting the phone get good and cold (not damp though). Then put the battery back & see whether it will boot.

In the limit we can try reloading the software, but I fear a hardware problem. Let us know what network it was bought from, if any, as that may help if we try that.

Give that a go though. I'll check in when I can, but won't be around much over the weekend.
