Please help explain partitions/SD location for Razr

I have the Razr maxx. Could someone explain the partitions to me? When I plug the phone into my computer, I have the SD card, MOT (Drive N), Motocast (Drive L).

I use Go SMS. When I press on a picture that has been sent, it says it is "saved to SD card." But I find it on the N (MOT) drive. Why is that?

I actually have a lot of "stuff" on that N (MOT) Drive. Why is that?

Sorry for the newbie questions....I am not a geek. Thanks in advance for your help!
 
Same kind of question here. When i plug in razr maxx to my imac it shows two drives, but they are both called MOT. One is 16gb, i assume the SD card, and one is 8gb, internal? Should i rename them something else? In Astro they are called /sdcard and /sdcard-ext
 
The SD-ext is your removable SD card. The other (SD card) is the phone's internal storage. A lot of the developer's have not updated their apps to find the SD-ext card. Handcent is an example - says it saved to SD card but it didn't and there is no way to modify the path. Odd to name them the same but there must have been a reason behind it. We just don't know what it is lol.
 
This gets even more confusing on a Mac. I plug in the phone with the USB cable and up pops an app that says Install MOT. I have to click on it in order to see what's on the phone. I then get two drives showing up, both named MOT. Based on the contents, one is the SD card and the other is the internal. I am kind of afraid to rename one of them.
 
It is quite confusing. Get an app called astro file manager. You can move all saved files to you external sd card. You will have 2 drive letters when plugged into pc. 1 is internal phone storage and 1 is external sdcard. Once plugged in, on the root of the sdcard create a folder called saved,pics, or whatever to keep those saved files in. Or you can move them into the folder where your camera pics go. you can do this via pc or astro. When in astro at the top, tap manage files. You will be in the main phone files. Tap the up and will take you to where you will see you sdcard(internal phone memory) and sdcard-ext(external sdcard). You can then enter phone sd and go into download or where you have pics at saved from text. You follow buttons at the top if you want to move all you tap multi,select all,move, then tap home,up,sdcard-ext, then tap folder you want them in then tap paste. This procedure will move them to the external card for you. If you have any further questions reply to me here. I know all razr settings inside out.

I added all of my music files from my PC to my external SD card. Now when I click the My Music option and My Library, it does not show me the music that I loaded.

If I go to My Files and click SD Card, I can see my Music folder with all of my files. The songs will play but I have to tap them individually. I am new to smart phones all around and have a Razr Maxx.

How can I access/link the files on my external SD card to My Music for continuous play?
