please help froyo update only sort of worked

Hi please be gentle with me its my first post i recently did the froyo update on my legend through updates but it only seems to have sort of worked.After the install i can get live wallpapers but thats about it, the tool bar at the bottom has not updated and still has phone written in it how do get the new icons etc?
 
The main features of froyo 2.2 are:
Some new widgets, hotspot tinkering, apps 2 sd, new sms mainframe, the capability of using the led as a flashlight and overall a faster speed, theres no new toolbar updates! If you want you can try getting Ahome and changing themes.

Sorry i have looked at the froyo update on ytube and at the bottom of the handset there are new icons on the screen a new web browser etc but my phone still has the old wigets phone etc i hope this makes some sense.
 
Ok well I dont know what video you where looking at, but after the update the Legend looks the same and there no real changes in the user interface. You may have looked at a video with other phones with Froyo, like Nexus One which looks completely different to Legend.

What you are seeing at the bottom of the screen (of your Legend) is part of HTC Sense (which you get on all HTC phones). The videos you saw of FroYo were probably on phones like the Nexus One which are essentialy a pure Android experience - no additions to the user interface from third party manufacturers - like HTC.

Prior to FroYo you could switch to the default Android launcher and experience what users of the Nexus One get - no Sense.

But now (FroYo) you are stuck with Sense, unless you install an app called Launcher Pro which allows you to run home screens that look similar to what you saw in the videos.

As far as I am aware, if you switch to Launcher Pro you won't be able to use you HTC Sense widgets though.

Macnpaul is correct. You can change the Sense with some apps, e.g. ADW Launcher and get the themes you want.
