i already rooted and downloaded a rom but i cant find a recovery for the droid x i tried rom manager and droid x recovery bootstrap from the market but neither worked i want to make a nandroid backup but the built in recovery doesnt have that option please help!!

you have to probably either use the droid2 recovery or Uncheck usb debugging when using the DroidX recovery.

OK I KNOW THIS IS LONG PLZ READ I NEED URGENT HELP Grrr ok I installed recovery everything was working I flached the ics rom it booted and I set it up as usual and the rom worked perfectly fine then after a few hours out of nowhere I locked the phone and when I tried to unlock it was off and when booted it was stuck at the red M. I tried to sbf but the phone is apparently dead so bootloader won't work and nomater what how long I let it sit and charge bootloader says battery low cannot program. But when the phone is plugged in I can get it into the stock recovery but not clockworkmod recovery ( tried all ways I could find ) so I was wondering if there was an update.zip I could flash that would fix the problem. And I alredy tried to wipe data and cache in the recovery. Plz I need help asap

I'm pretty sure your only remedy is to sbf if the data wipe didn't do it. Will the phone charge while it's turned off? You will need to find a charged battery otherwise. I called my local VZW store and asked if they had any X2 batteries in stock. Then I took my laptop in, borrowed the battery and sbf'd my X in the store. They were accommodating and intrigued with what I was actually doing. But I digress.

You're going to need a charged battery otherwise, as you now know, the bootloader will just show that error.

ok so i have no problem going online to pay for a $5 battery to fix my phone especially because i paid for my droid x out of pocket for like $600 but i want to know if my friends droid bionic battery will work just temporarily while i sbf my phone

I'm not familiar with the Bionic. If the battery actually can fit in the X, I'd say go ahead but that's only because it's not my phone. The only difference I know for sure is the mAh. I don't know about the actual physical dimensions.

Whoa so I cut up my charging cable exposed the red and black wires and connected them to my battery and let is sit for 20 mins now bootloader says battery ok and when I had my droid x working it was on .605 do I have to sbf to that or can I sbf to the .621 I'm so relieved to have my droid back.

MacGyver would be proud. You can go ahead and sbf to .621. It doesn't matter what you were on before. Just remember you can't go back to .605 after you update.

just wanna let you know i sbf'd successfully and now i can boot into recovery from power off state so hopefully wont have to deal with bricking again
