Android Question

Guest
So about 2-3 weeks ago I went into software information and I was spamming the android version to get the cool android jelly bean thing right? And then I went back and for some reason just started spamming the other buttons there including the build number, (without knowing then that it was the button to turn on developer option.) Anyway I didn't notice anything different but my friend said that I rooted my phone? Do I still have my warranty? When I go to dropbox it says I have a folder named "root." But I don't think that rooting my phone would be this easy. Anyways a few days ago there was a software update, a small one, and I did it properly, and it was fine, when yesterday my phone while I was on snapchat just froze and then turned off and wouldn't turn on again for like 10 minutes. Now it just randomly turns off, 5 times today so far. If it's the phone messing up, can I still return it? Please help, thanks.

You didn't root the phone. It's not something you can do by playing with buttons. You can screw things up by blindly playing with buttons and fooling around with stuff like developer options. Possible you did something there that's causing trouble.

Or...the update may not have gone well. 2 things you might want to try to clear it up:

1. Clear the cache partition. How to do it is specific to your phone. Be careful, you have to do it correctly for your phone make an model. A Google search for 'clear cache partition Make Model' should turn up instructions.
2. Do a factory reset. Go to: Settings > Backup & reset > Factory reset. The phone will be back as it was new out of the box except it will still have any OS updates installed. Everything on the phone will be erased. So be sure to backup anything on the phone you don't want to lose.

Probably is not the phone messing up. This sounds like a classic case of Operator Error. Recommend you stop spamming buttons until you know what you're spamming.

So do I still have my warranty? And also I didn't touch anything in developer options. I just clicked the build number 7 times and I didn't do anything else. So, what do you think is the problem? Also is there much risk to cache partition? What does it do? My battery is also draining insanely fast. I also have the LG G2

Yes, you do..

If you really didn't do anything else, i'd guess the OS system update went badlly. At least I think you said you updated Jellybean, it's not really clear:
I was spamming the android version to get the cool android jelly bean thing right?
I dunno...right???

Not if you do it carefully and correctly. It just deletes a bunch of temporary files, which the OS will automatically rebuild.

My battery is also draining insanely fast. I also have the LG G2
The cache wipe may help out. If that doesn't a reset very likely will.

Ok thanks so much. And it wasnt a big update i dont think, just a google improved...something like that. Can i try after i back e erything up just in case and ask again if nothing improved?

I don't have a 'root' folder in Dropbox. I don't know how it got there in yours, but I'm sure it doesn't mean your phone is rooted.
