Please help! No package installer

Im not sure why or how, but my android doesn't have package installer. I have a galaxy note 9, every time i try to download anything that's not straight off google play it gives me and error saying theres no apps that can perform the action. I've looked all over my phone and still haven't been able to find packageinstaller. This is extremely frustrating, please help

First, let's see if you're actually missing Android's package installer. From System Settings, get to your list of apps; on my phone it's under "Apps & notifications" and then "App info." Use the 3-dot menu to "Show system." Now scroll down and see if "Package installer" is there:

and just to be sure, is the file you are downloading a .apk file? does it have the ".apk" attachement at the end of the file?

It could also be an Xapk file, which your system may/may not comprehend.

In order to satisfy this, I installed a nice little gem that I found..

This should eliminate your issue whether or not you have a package installer on your device.
