Please Help with folders in my gallery!!

On the HTC one does anyone know how certain pictures of her ended up in a new folder called "messenger"... my daughter said she was not using a messenger but when i sent myself a picture with text open it did not go into that same folder. Please help!!

If I had to guess I would say it is probably related to Google+. Is the phone set to sync Google photos? Does she use Google+ ? Was it a photo she took with the phone? Did she send it via Google+ or was it a photo someone may have sent to her via Google+ ?
