I have a rooted samsung gravity smart running on 2.2.2 I accidentally dleted my stock messaging app and can no longer receive mms messages or pictures...I have looked through numerous threads on how to fix this, I tried installing an mms.apk from 4shared and it says application not installed....I don't know much as I am a first time rooted user...if someone could please help me I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much!

have you tried alternative messaging apps in the market?

there are multiple ones that replace the stock messenger, you have handscent, and a few others i cannot remember, i would give those a shot first to see if they work
 
I have go sms on my phone, but I recently did some researching on this problem and a few people stated that u. Have to keep the stock android messaging app on your phone in order to receive mms or picture messages because the market messaging apps need the stock app to receive mms messages....so I need to find a way to get the android mms.apk app on my phone :(
 
If you have to reinstall the stock app you will want to follow lunatic's sound advice.
I quote the message he left you earlier.. "Unfortunately, Amber, when you delete system apps, you can't get them back simply by installing an .apk. You will need to find a rom of your phone's original firmware and flash it back to stock. The folks in Gravity Smart - All Things Root - Android Forums will be able to help you with that."
