please help

I bought a coby kyros MID8048 last April 1. It says that sd card is mounted but when I try to download apps it says insert sd card. Prior to this i also lost all the apps I transferred to the sd card after I rebooted the device. I also always encounter the process android.process media stopped problem. Would anybody be kind enough to give me a hand? I am starting to regret why I bought this unit. The lady who sold me this thing is as clueless as I am. She advised me against restoring it to factory settings because it will void the warranty. Thank you in dvance. :-)

Factory reset voiding warranty = BS of the highest order.
Some devices treat internal storage as an SD card, this could be what the 'SD Card mounted' is referring to.

A quick google shows a number of rooting guides for your device, and there's quite a bit about your tab over at XDA Developers. From a brief reading it looks like you'd want/need to install Play Store yourself and maybe want to look at custom ROMS on XDA Developers forum.

My problem started with the "process android.process media has stopped" which I temporarily fixed by clearing the data in media storage. When that was fixed whenever I use the cam a notification says that I have to insert sd card so I bought a 32gb transcend class 4. It worked well until today. If before it still says that sd card is mounted now it totally does not detect the card. I tried other sd cards and they were not detected either. I'll try searching the "rooting". :-) I am quite unfamiliar with the terms used here. Thank you verymuch. :-)
