Lol yup. But that allows me more memory for things I actually want to run. Lots of crap and bloat in these lg roms.

Isn't that the truth? I uninstalled a ton of stuff. I also accidentally soft bricked it after removing the google play apps but was able to restore through the kpz500 method. All is good now though.

I have frozen 67 apps, I think I did one too many though, as after a reboot my home button is no longer mapped. Even fails to work with button saviour. Cannot even take screenshots. Bleh, Monday I should have time to troubleshoot some. Ill post on one of these threads what caused it.

My phone tried to update but now won't boot. It goes to the Clockwork Recovery screen and I think I've bricked my phone. I did the bootloop fix a while ago and it has been working fine since then.

What do I do?

EDIT: Ok weird. I did the bootloop fix again just for the hell of it and it seems to be working. Not sure what version I have now.

EDIT2: Whew, thank god. It says the software update failed. Is it going to keep trying to update it daily? What can I do so I can actually run ICS?

OK everyone you can't have root OR clockworkmod If you want to take the update other wise you might blow up your phone!!!

This has been discussed in tons of threads. All things root has a guide for restoring to pure stock so you can update.

Anyone having issues with constant YouTube buffering lag when watching on hd? It'snnot my inernet I have dl speeds of 50Mbps. I did a comparison side by side with my galaxy nexus both on wifi and the nexus doesn't have a single buffering, while the spectrum has way toommany. I'm I the only one? If not, is there something I can do? Thanks

Actually you can have root but just not cwm. Root isn't an app or program it's just a permission status so therefore it will not mess with the update.

But really guys it's getting a little ridiculous with the whole 'I've bricked my phone because I have cwm installed' this has been covered so much

Ok fair enough guys and sorry about that. In my defense though I've now read this entire thread and there are so many references to "that thread I made" or "somewhere else" with no link. There's also no stickied thread about this so I would suggest someone who knows how to do this to write out the instructions and have a mod sticky the thread if you don't want these repeated complaints. Yes, the blame for repeated questions is on us but that won't stop new ones from coming up.

Lastly, after reading this entire thread I realize that I need to either return to stock without CWM or "push it" to my phone, which is apparently so easy, yet no idea how to do from reading.

If you're talking about pushing v7 to your phone, check out the return you phone to v4 or v6 thread. Neph references a thread on rootzwiki that had a tool to do just that. Super easy.... The hardest part is downloading and waiting for the program to install the rom. :)

I got my update and I have to say I really like it. My wife has the same phone but hasn't gotten her ICS update yet, just the "B" update to v6. Gonna play with stock for a while and see how it goes.

I updated mine last week, through the Verizon website, and updated my wife's OTA. Everything seems to be working fine.

I meant v4, v7 and v8.
V4=A4EF72296A3234E9E86E83BA48157E8C
v6=59227DCA109AFA8C9D6A7212B7B6EA1C
v7=
v8=82104EB4760A47B577A4F8052F0D5159

My copy of V7 is on another PC. If no one else has a copy I can try and boot it up, but I'm sure someone else has the .cab to get the MD5 from.

Cool, thanks. I found the v7 cab on some Chinese(?) site - seems legit. http://n760.diypda.com/archiver/tid-795392.html

But, if I'm going to use Pwnage tool then put a JB ROM on, I can do all that from OTA v8 safely, right? Assuming I don't do something dumb, that is.
Correct, and it's probably easier to do it that way. Any time you .cab flash, you take the risk of wiping your IMEI. It's extremely rare, but it can happen.
