Sure I can do that, but I guess my point was, what does banning IPs even do? When I came back to this forum the place was flooded with spam anyway. A spammer can just as easily use a proxy as any legitimate user.

You're right, banning IPs isn't perfect, and it's a never-ending task.
We could install a consecutive post detector plugin for Xenforo, and that would automatically cut out barrage spam attacks by bots.

Be glad that staff don't just ban for general principle like on some sites (at least with some staff). From what I've seen, pretty much spam is kept up with here.
