Hello friends

I am about to buy my first smartphone and i want some suggestions for that. i am from India.

Features i am looking for:

1)Very good call quality
2)Very Good camera for still pics and video .
3)Good internet browsing
4)Good social networking..

i am not much into gaming.....please suggest some good android devices.
i am looking for products within mid to higher-end category.....

Thanks a lot in advance

I have an HTC Wildfire S and i'm pretty happy with it.
The call quality is superb, camera shots are nice if you play around in the settings, video quality is kinda "meh", and it's only 480p.
Internet browsing is smooth on 80% of websites.
It haves Friend Stream for Twitter and Facebook.
It's a good mid-range phone.
Games like Angry Birds and Raging Thunder will run smooth, but for other that demand more resources than those expect lag, or not working at all.
Whoever, other members may have better phones that suit you.

EDIT: Oh yeah, the screen is only 3.2".People that think iPhone's screen <3.5"> is too small may have a problem with that.

Thanks for the info brother.
Highly appreciated.

Anyone suggesting anything else??

Specify your budget
If you have 30K lying around go for HTC Sensation
If you have 25K then LG Optimus 2X is way to go.
If you can afford till 20 K Samsung google Nexus S is the best phone. It is better than Galaxy S 9003
If your budget is 15 K then go for Motorola Defy rather than Wildfire S.
Below that go for Dell XCD 35 .

Samsung has worst support .(Personal opinion).
One month to replace/repair a phone !!!
HTC and LG have decent support in metros.

Optimus 2X is the most powerful device upto 25K
Apart from Dual core proc it also has 8 MP camera.
That way you are future proof for at least two years since Dual cores are still in nascency

Incredible S and Arc come second due to solo cores.

Google Nexus S is a steal at 20K since you will get Ice-cream Sandwich upgrade first .And you wont have to depend upon Companies for software support.

AFAIK Ideos X6 is a killer phone at 14K you have V7 proc,decent RAM/GPU.
I have no idea about support of Spice but someone in forum mentioned Huwai parts are easier to obtain in India.

Software support wise ,according to me companies rank

Google > HTC > LG >Samsung

CyanogenMod has support for all HTC phones/Google Nexus S/LG Optimus 2X

No idea about how update cycles of Huwaei or ROM dev support

I get an HTC phone like the Thunderbolt. HTC seems to be a better experience for new users. My wife loves her Eris and we'll be replacing hers with a Thunderbolt.

I'm waiting for the launch of Droid Bionic. The one thing that affects whether you can use the phone for 2 years is chip speed, memory, computing power, etc. The phones get laggy as the programs get more demanding over time. Take that into account.

My only doubt is how is it as a Phone???Have u used Google Nexus S ??? how is the call quality and reception??..i heard that it drops some of the calls....thats my only concern.

Also how is the LCD screen on Nexus S??..i read they dont give AMOLED screens anymore....also i will have the phone for at least 2 years..

I haven't used one but handled one you can say .I didn't call using the phone but my friend has no qualms in call reception I guess.
Nexus S 9020 has SUPER AMOLED and 9023 has S-LCD.
I dont have knowledge about their exact differences :(

Go for Optimus 2X if you can afford one .

For a long term investment a dual core proc phone with Cortex-A9 like nvidia Tegra 2 of Optimus 2X .

In solo cores you have plethora of options so you will need to choose.
For cam quality go to an electronic store and check the cameras of each phone since camera quality is personal preference.

Android is not my smartphone OS of choice but I do maintain a smartphone rankings tool here: Smartphone Rankings | brian s hall

If you are certain you only want to try Androids, first be aware of your likely calling area and usage patterns. Voice calls and voice plans still play a role -- at least with any device you buy on contract, which is typical in the US.

Hard to go wrong with the Samsung Infuse, or any Samsung, though if you can wait a bit, that Droid 3 by Moto could be awesome.

Though you really ought to go to one or more carrier stores, or Best Buy, and test. You may simply not want a device without physical keys. Or, perhaps a touch screen, as it should be lighter, is what you want. If a camera is more important to you than most, get a device with 8MP, which is fairly common, rather than the 5mp or less which is still found on numerous devices.

Lastly, while you should not ignore price, know that over the life of your device, almost certainly you will spend more on voice/data/texting costs to your carrier. Thus, don't just choose because one phone is, say, $49 cheaper. Over the life of that device, that $49 savings will probably not seem like much.

Hi,
I've been using a Blackberry Torch 9800 and am now BORED OF IT.
I then bought an iPhone 4(Got iOS 5 installed on it as well)... my usage is:

3G ON all the time..
5 Email Accounts being PUSHED At All Times.
Browsing a bit on the day(Mostly on 3G).
About 10 calls a day.
About 30mins of Games a Day.
Almost No Music.

By 7pm in the evening:
Blackberry 9800 : 40% to 50% Battery
iPhone 4 : 10% to 20% Battery

Now, please suggest me an Android that i can use?
Unified Email Inbox is a MUST as well.

Whats the best option for me (Price not being an object here)
My Location : Mumbai, India.

Thanks Guys...

The Spice MI 410 aka Huawai Ideos X6 would be an excellent choice.

I have one, and it's GPU is the 2nd-most powerful in the market--essential since you're into gaming. :)
