Please talk me into being satisfied with my Rezound

My wife got a SGSIII and now I'm not happy with my Rezound. :(
She gets up to 2 days off her standard battery. I can't get through 12 hours without desperately searching for a charger with my *extended* battery.
Her phone is as smooth as butter, mine is choppy and laggy, especially if I don't restart it. We've got the same apps installed. And that screen! Dang! My phone's only about a year old and it looks small, thick, and antiquated.

She gets all the "case love". Tons of colors and styles. Screen protectors available from all the big names. For the Rezound, there's just a handful.

Someone please give me a pep talk to be satisfied with my Rezound again! I don't want to lay out so much cash when my phone still works. There's got to be something crappy about the SGSIII!

I've used buddies GS3 and it didnt impress me at all honestly. Screen was very lackluster compared and thats with mine having a matte screen protector on it and his being without a protector at all. That and for me, sense > that god awful touch wiz. Its the main reason I cant bring myself to get a samsung phone.

As for choppy and laggy with your rezound, Id look into a reset cause mine runs really smooth at all times since Ive owned it. Ive had an issue with a slight battery drain in the last month which Im hoping to fix by flashing to newest leak. But before that, I could get 3-4 days on a single charge of medium use for me.

You run a heavy risk of spontaneous screen cracking with the SG3. I was going to get one until I read about this issue. I was at Sam's Club the other day just browsing the cell phones and guess what? The SG3 on display had a hairline crack on the screen. Sure, it was a display and probably gets some rough handling. But I went around to all the other phones to see if any of them had cracked screens. None did. So, that pretty much quelched my enthusiasm for the SG3. I don't want one any more.

Okay look,
I've been moving through a lot of android forums to get a rounded idea of not only the phone(s) I have, but to help screen out the spam that manufactures pay for.

The news is that 10 to 15+% of all reviews online will be made by someone paid to post positive things by the company wanting to sell more product within the next couple years. That doesn't mean it's not already happening a ton already. So when I post a negative comment about something, I can't help but analyze and wonder about a lot of posts thereafter.

I don't know why I still come to this Rezound forum since i just changed to a Galaxy Nexus after having 4 crap Rezound's (all had issues, the very first was the worst.), but so many people here say something to the effect of "wow, I've never had a problem, this phone must have been sent by god himself... its so damn amazing that i want it to have my first born child!"
Yeah, ok well I don't get why people want to have sex with their phones, but i do wonder if they sell the things considering the massive problems iIve had over several Rezounds.
Getting to the point - After 4 crap rezounds in about as many months Verizon let me get another and i took the Galaxy Nexus from Samsung and I can definitely say that I know what you're talking about. The resolution is not as great as the tinier Rezound pixel dense screen, but if you're looking for a Smartphon that you can not only play with, but do business with, the Rezound is not your thing. The new samsung's (GN and S3) are fricking solid and can do everything.
In fact a woman i work with that is one of those crazy "Apple everything" people who bought into the brainwash that apple phones and all were the only way to go finally switched to the S3 after 5 generations of having an apple phone (in fact she was at the Verizon store to renew with a new apple 5, but they were out and because of her lack of patience, she got the S3 after screwing around with it (shes a hardcore apple chick, but cant explain why) and she says she can't believe she liked apple so much because the android and S3 are so damn awesome in comparison that it makes the apple products seem like they were from the dinosaur age.

Now, between our Rezound and the S3 - yeah sure maybe some of these comments above are true about cracked screens? (i do not get why the dude even brought up the cracked S3 screen in comparison to the other "sample" phones...any goddamn thing could have happened,..that's what's called the "X" factor or "variable" since even a competing company could have sent someone in to crack the screen and walk off to match the online posts they were making against this product).....but long story short. The Rezound to me was garbage. GARBAGE. crap hardware, every phone.

At least when i switched to the Nexus they let me keep the headphones. :)

also i've had a few beers, so my typing might not be perfect, but my post is very much accurate.

If currently have unlimited data, buying your next device used may be a reality. If you shop the local used phone market, GS3s will run you about $150 difference. Why not do it now and be happy?

Think about being able to contribute the "cases for the GS3" thread that is currently up to 31 pages!

Clearly something is amiss with the apps on your phone, that is not normal operations. Conduct some troubleshooting and/or factory reset.

Nope sorry. :(
The GS3 is superior in practically every way. You shouldn't feel too bad though. The GS4/Incredible X/next Nexus will be around the corner when you are ready for an upgrade.
I upgraded from the Rezound to the GS3 and the difference in performance was huge. I thought the Rez was pretty quick but when I got the GS3, I was surprised at how much smoother and faster everything was. Been an HTC fan for a while (OG Incredible, Thunderbolt, Rezound) but the GS3 was just too good to pass up.
Well there is one bad thing about the GS3. You need to buy a special MHL cable for HDMI out as the GS3 has a different pin layout so older MHL cables won't work.
Again, sorry. You'll have the envy your wife's phone until you upgrade.

I love my girl's SG3 but it can't replace my Rezound...

Now the Incredible X might have my name all over it though ;)

There is a new phone with better specs out every few months so. We have to learn to stick with what we have until at least the time we can qualify for the subsidized price for a new phone, or wait out the contract, as long as we can afford it.

I feel a desire for the SGS3 too, but I have to learn to be content with what I have. It's a good phone, sure it has it's issues, but it still works. It's not as new in tech as the newer phones, but it's still good.

Radio not as good. I tested the two side by side.

+1

My friend took advantage of the deal on the SGS3 at Best Buy on Sunday. He had it through yesterday and consistently had 1 bar or less where I had 4 bars of LTE on my Rezound. At times he would drop to 1X and have no data at all. This was on VZW and was EXACTLY like what I was seeing when I had the Nexus before returning it for the Rezound.

My friend returned his S3 last night and is back on the Rezound. I am convinced that the Samsung/Verizon combination is a fail and will not look at a Samsung device on this network no matter how good the reviews.

Thats the phone I'm looking forward to seeing. I want a top of the line HTC phone on Verizon along the lines of the ONE X etc....

Amen... Felt shafted that we didn't get a frontline HTC on VZW. Haven't had one since the OG Incredible (great phone)

I love my Rezound for sure.... but I am getting sick of the bulkiness using this extended battery

I don't use the extended but I do have the inductive back.... It too adds bulk to the Rez. It hasn't bothered me but it sure seemed huge when I dug out the old Dinc to gift to my daughter.

Well now.......The Rezound had the highest pixel count of any phone at release (334 ppi) and has ( still ) a most amazing screen. For me, the screen on a phone is the equivalent of speakers on a sound system - who cares how good the stereo system is if it does not sound great - well who care about the hardware specs on a phone if the screen does not look great ....and the Rezound screen ... far far outpaces the SG III .........

We all suffer BLE ( battery life envy ) if we own a Rezound......what to do .......well manage the features a bit but what I did was buy a New Trent battery charger ( 11,000 mah ) which is the same size of the phone and can charge it to full capacity 4 to 5 times - no problem carrying it with me and it always keeps the Rezound charged up.....

None of this is too mention the smartphone leading build quality of an HTC......Samsung makes great phones.....including the SG III.......but their build quality doesn't compare to the Rezound - I like to know it is in my pocket and be able to find it in my briefcase.

If you really want to have " the next best thing " ......hold on for the HTC DLX ....OMG ..... this HTC beast has a 5 " 443 pii screen - no phone in the world today matches its resolution and pixel count - a snapdragon dual core chip, a 1.5 G RAM and a more decent battery ( 2010 mah vs the Rezound 1619 mah )

Now buddy, that phone is gonna tears the doors off of everything !!!!!! Still love my Rezound but waiting for the DLX!!

Speaking of the HTC DLX, so glad its being leaked more and more with verizon all over it. I might have to do some plan changing finally and steal one of my parents upgrades cause I really love the look of that phone already. Looks to be an absolute beast.

I think they are about the same. I live in an area where Verizon coverage is okay and in my house I get about 1-2 bars of signal(-102 to -94ish) with both phones. I was afraid I'd have to return the phone because I've heard of GNex radio issues but that wasn't the case. The Thunderbolt on the other hand usually got nothing unless I was right next to the window. Then I got 1 bar, sometimes. :D

I can confirm that the Samsung device seems to have some issue with weak signals: while my wife's phone holds onto calls and data as well as my Rezound, it also tends to give a lot of false SMS failures, causing the same message to be sent multiple times. A few weeks in, we've also seen her battery go dead by surprise. Downloaded Gsam battery monitor to try and figure that out.

That said, I'm now "OK" with my Rezound, opting for less wallet pain right now. We'll see what the next HTC device has to offer, as I too am a fan. Either that or the eventual release of a Samsung GS IV...

I'm thinking of the Samsung Note II.
I'd sure hate it if their radio still sucks. I work inside a lot where the signal sucks.
My Rezound has better signal than my T-Bolt did.

I've been an HTC fan for a while.
But the capabilities of the Note seem tempting, particularly the being able to leave youtube playing in the background while I go and check text, answer facebook comments, etc.
I dunno why there is no setting that could allow this now.

5 years ago I was using a Palm Treo 700w with Windows 5.0.
It only had like 128 megs ram and a 328 Mhz processor I overclocked to ~500 yet with Skyfire I was able to go to other apps while a video was still playing.

How sad that we can't do that now.
