Pleased with the camera

I have seen disappointment expressed that the S3 camera is "only" 8 megapixels not 12 as previously rumoured. However, I was pleased with this photo which I took (very close up) with my S3 yesterday:

... and cropped, printed (for my son) and posted to twitter without leaving the garden.

Wow that is very impressive. How has your experience been with taking photos indoors or in low-light situations? I would expect it to deteriorate to a certain degree, but curious your thoughts on it. Thanks for sharing!

Indoor photos that I've taken have been no worse than any other phone camera that I've used - but with the size of its optics I'm sure it won't rival a reasonable dedicated camera. I might do some side-by-side tests against my wife's iPhone 4S when I get a chance... David

i heard that the camera on the SG3 is the same as the one on the iPhone4S, so wouldn't expect much difference. I have seen pics from the HTC OneX and they seem to be crisper than the SG3 especially when viewing at max size.

Can we all address the real issue here. Doesn't matter if they are not harmful, all insects freak me out, even this one with its vibrant colors.
