Pokédroid - Android Pokédex!: A Pokedex even Ash would use!

Blast of nostalgia, anyone? With so many fans, It was bound to happen sometime, and thank god it did. Pokedroid is a Pokedex and info app for the android operating system with all the features you could ever ask for, all for free!

When you first open Pokedroid you are greeted with a very attractive interface. All the Pokemon from every generation to date are in perfect scrolling order. Just as you see it on the original Pokedex, 001-493, all there accompanied by the Pokemon's type and a small picture icon of the Pokemon. Search by name or number! Did I mention it had voice search? Works well too.

But this isnt what impressed me the most, the real backbone of this app comes after you actually click on a pokemon from the list and view it. All the information you could ever want is laid out about each and every Pokemon; height, weight, a description, base stats, abilities, egg groups, gender ratio, hatch steps, type advantages, evolutions, moves, the list goes on. It is fantastic and it doesnt end there. You will notice a little speaker icon at the top right of the screen. Upon clicking this, the phone will read out to you the info about the Pokemon. Its just like having a real Pokedex in the palm of your hand. Who knew android could double as a Pokedex, right? Im not going to lie, I use this regularly now while playing Heart Gold on my DS and even while playing Pokemon on the Gameboid emulator. Its a handy tool, and its one ill be keeping for a while.

Now lets talk about additional features and settings (as if the app wasn't good enough already). If you're observant and thinking to yourself "Ok, so Pokemon icon, name, and type. Great. Now whats that star I keep seeing?". Well, reader, that star is actually a favoriting feature. That's right, got a few favorite Pokemon? Favorite them. Everyone has got their favorite Pokemon; this feature was a very smart move, which indicates that the developer is on his toes and listening. On that note, it is appropriate for me to mention Add-ons. And this app has them. Granted, at the moment it only has one add on, its still a positive sign and says great things about the developer once again.

The Add-on can be found under "Pokedroid Extras" in the market and it adds the Pokemon's footprints and Pokemon "cries". More to love! Cant argue with that. It is, however, a 5.45 MB add on. So that is something to keep in mind.

Conclusion? So there you have it. Pokedroid for the android. Its a Pokedex that even Ash himself would use. What have you got to lose? Its free! Sure to bring back nostalgia, fun, and maybe motivate you to pick up your old Pokemon game again. Must have for any pokemon lover. 5 star app if I ever saw one.
