I think it's pretty sound advice if they truely hates all police officers. I mean, if my life were in danger why in the hell would I pick up the phone to call the one person that I hate in life? If you are going to be ignorant enough to make a blanket statement about every individual of a specific profession then you may want to arm yourself since you have nobody to call upon in your time of need. That or the OP was simply being immature & ignorant & will still dial 911 at the first signs of danger hoping the brave man or woman who arrives to 'make everything right' doesn't know of his secret hate for that responder even though he knows nothing of the individual... just the uniform/badge they wear which, strangely enough, is the ONLY reason they're there in the first place. Can you smell the irony?

So, if the OP hates them so much... forget the # for 911 and stop breaking the law. Seems like the worlds easiest fix evar!

First you mention the word" hate 4 times relative to my post,I didn't once mention it, and I certainly don't need someone like you making incorrect assumptions.(1) When did I lump all individuals of a particular profession together?(2)Are you claiming if 911 call comes in they will only respond if they choose to?(3)When did I make a blanket statement of every individual of a specific profession?

You attempt to claim you know what goes on in my town when you don't even know where that is,or even what state that is,yea the irony is becoming clearer.
Actually no one could have better illustrated whats wrong with those that defend improper & irresponsible behaviors without even knowing for yourself.
If you really believe guns are the answer to 911's then why pay for police if they aren't going to respond, as you implied?

picking up the phone and dialing 911 isnt going to do much good in most situations regardless of wether you "hate" police officers... By the time they get there with their notepads, the situation will be over. Calling is just wasting valuable time in most circumstances, unless someone else calls while you're dealing with it. And nine times out of ten the police wont do anything but take notes anyway.

In all the states, the video part should be legal. Recording audio however is trickier. Some states only require that ONE of the individuals in a conversation know that it's being recorded. Other states require that all parties know about it.

I suspect if you tell people that you have it recording, it's OK anywhere you go...but from the sound of this thread, that may even be changing as I type this.

I'll admit that I've no idea about the US laws, and only a little with regard to UK laws; but that said I routinely record my conversations with the Police and other public employees(audio only), and I don't tell them.

I've caught a number of conversations on tape that have been useful in proving that I've been lied to, and or given incorrect information. I have no qualms whatsoever in doing so, because I see no argument that can be made that doing so is wrong.

I think it would be wrong to record a conversation to which I was not a party, but I've done that in error too.

If an officer says something to me, he'd better be prepared to stand by what he's said, so having a recording shouldn't worry him at all.

My little town is much closer to Mayberry than Miami,so there are 4-5 younger officers act like Barney Fyfe on steroids.It's like they're angry because we don't have big city issues so they'll treat traffic stops or skateboarders as if everyone's hiding drugs or try to piss you off so they can charge you with something else.This stuff was never even heard of until the economy got bad. With so many people losing their homes,job loss ect.,seems to me people need a break not more crap by people which we pay their salary.

Interesting. Is it just like a little wire microphone thing that you have?

Is it easy to get audio for your car?(as in microphones etc installled?

They will no longer search my car/house without a warrant or get any answers to their questions besides those required by law.

I would never give anyone permission to search my vehicle or home.

The thing is, most people are honest and don't want to appear to be hiding anything. If you keep shut, they'll likely grill you.

I know for a fact that Texas requires that only one person knows that the recording is happening. You are not required to inform anyone you're recording whether in person or over the phone.
