Well, there sure seems to have been a lot of development recently for this End of Life device...and i'm curious. Out of all the awesome things that have come out of the Ally development scene...what was/is your favorite?

Velocitys power scripts are the winner. Frunishers unique and killer looks and performance was great,. Storm droid is still being developed so hard to say what oppinion i have on it yet but expecting the best. Over stocked never tried yet but expecting the same results. Project gretel got us excited but shot us down at same time. As for bionic... Not my opinion to say. All together, each rom has its fans and its good to have a choice. Its just like choosing between which flavor of moutain dew to drink or how thick you want your bacon to be ^. ^

not going to vote yet since I'm still new to roms, but I can give my opinion of the ones I've tried.

Velocity tried 1.0 1.1 & 1.2
Seems nice but its a little quirky and heavy/laggy for my taste stock. Especially the launchers. I tend to choose very light fast launchers over eye candy ones. I've had some issues getting certain things to work most of which seem to known and will be addressed as time permits. I love the scripts and settings menu integrations. Though sadly the ADW one will be useless to me as its probably going to be the first thing to go.

StormDroid currently trying the 10/13 nightly
Decent so far, no complaints on usability. I would like to see darker themes for it. I'm a white text on plain black background guy myself and the themes I've tried for SD all keep too much of the white backgrounds for my taste. Haven't really played with it enough to truly plumb stabilty and battery life yet.

Frunisher 1.0
So far my phone seems to like this one best and I'm partial to it as well for it's lightness and general minimalism. I've had no stability issues with it at all, everything seems to work peachy. I love how most of the stock apps are detached from market so they don't try to auto-update. (the new market / update stuff is probably the thing I hate most about Froyo. I despise the whole "helpful" operating systems trend of late.) Sadly there seem to be no themes at all for this rom, which kind of sucks as I'd love to see the black status bar and minimalistic status icons from Velocity/SD on this rom. Trying to figure out how to change that myself but it'll take me a few days of searching and browsing I'm sure. (though I won't complain if someone wants to save me the time and point me in the right direction.)

My sincere thanks to all the people who put these together. You seem to do a basically thankless job that gets you mostly grief. I appreciate the time, creativity and energy put into these projects and the freedom of choice it allows.

I will put velocity 1.0/ 1.2 because its fast and fully developed unlike all the other roms and frunisher is not my type but they're both great roms.

*if we put another poll up once EVERY rom is finished in development, that's when my votes come in*

I am trying Overstocked right now, and have only used velocity 1.1 and 1.2 other than that. So right now I have to say Velocity but maybe in a month or so this might be a more interesting poll since there are really only two on this list that have been around for any significant amount of time. Stability is huge on my list as I am sure it is on others and I think it is just too soon to compare everything new coming out to the two veterans lol.

Even though I am part of the StormDroid team and head of OverStocked development my vote went towards Velocity. Why? Because Velocity has been around A LOT longer than most everything else and had a whole team of extremely talented devs working on it for a LONG time. StormDroid is a great ROM, so is Frunisher, Gretel seems to be dead, Bionic is a wonderful project and OverStocked is my baby so of course I love it... but these are all different types of ROMs as well. It will be interesting to see this poll again in a few months once the other ROMs have a chance to catch up.

Same feeling. I love working with StormDroid and OverStocked, but when it comes down to it, neither are as polished, mature, and have as large a following as the king Velocity. The Velocity Team put together one heck of a ROM, and i must applaud them. Thanks for the great ROM, and thanks for inspiring all the new developers that have come along. :D

My phone seems to perform best with Frunisher. Only issue I have with it is that it still gives the update notification and there seems to be no way to get rid of it for good. Even if it disappears for a day or two, it comes back eventually.

Actually, if all you want is the status bar icons, it is a pretty easy thing to 'borrow' from another theme even if it's for another ROM. All of the status bar icons for any theme on any ROM share the same filename. That means you can open up the framework-res.apk file from one ROM and import the status bar icons into the framework-res.apk file of another ROM and then make a flashable .zip file to quickly update your ROM.

This actually works with a lot of the files in the framework-res file, but not all of them. Some of them just don't import properly for some reason, but in my experience, the statusbar icons always do.

I usually run Velocity. It is an amazing ROM and can be customized a lot. I installed Overstocked two days ago and it is running perfectly for me. It also has great bettery life. I've played with Bionic a little and it will be great once it is fully functional. The Iiada UI is awesome on Bionic. But all in all I have to say Overstocked is the best on my Ally at the moment.

Glad to see you are enjoying it! I got an Ally again so development is resuming when I wake up! Look forward to even more cool stuff without sacrificing the speed/battery life of the ROM :D

I would say right now that I would be completely happy with it if I could flash an awesome framework to it. Just change up the notification bar colors and icons really. But yes I do enjoy using Overstocked. :)

Would you like the stock framework to make a UOT theme for it? Like I said, OverStocked is aimed at being a community ROM... meaning I encourage ANYONE to contribute ANYTHING they might think would be a good addition to the ROM :D

You should really drop by the IRC channel and toss around some ideas though, or even post in the OverStocked thread.

I'll pull the framework from the zip as soon as I fix my laptop. I'll see what I can do to make the colors more defined.

Yep. been scouring the XDA forums and learning to theme. Though honestly I've been trying to sprend more time on Velocity 1.2 atm to give it a chance. (Aside from a keyboard lockup from enabling smartass it seems good after it's paired down a bit) EDIT: oh yeah and the weird alignment on UI bits. I'm guessing it must be pixel density be cause I have lot's of wallpapers that fit my Ally screen perfectly before I rooted and flashed now they're all too big. Unfortunately I can't test the theory with the server being down as the pixel density settings are in the customize section and the Velocity script won't let you access that in offline mode.

Got the easy bits down, changed out a bunch of PNGs and it all went smooth. Now I'm working on learning to fiddle with the XML files. Why they chose to make them non readable is completely beyond me, (paranoid "security reasons" I guess. pah!) but I've done a lot of Diablo 1 modding and Commodore programming so Hex editing is not really a big deal to me. I'll get it down here in a few days. Already got some ideas for some themes once the xml is under my power.
