Help Poor Battery Performance.

Hi There, I have recently rooted my HTC sensation phone and I'm running The Beast Custom Rom which I'm very happy with. However I'm still only getting about 10 hours max battery life even though I've calibrated the battery. Surely I should be getting at least 16 hours battery life with a custom rom?

Try Battery Defender from INFOLIFE - I was getting about 10 hours now I get up to 48 hours with moderate usage. Get rid of Task Managers as well as they only duplicate standard Android housekeeping.

I'm not familiar with The Beast ROM but my suggestion would be to ensure that you're using the recommended radio and kernel for the ROM.

Failing that, i'd try a different ROM (take a back up of course) Android Revolution HD is what i have been using for quite some time now and am happy with performance and battery life so it may eb a good benchmark for you even if you end up moving away from it at a later date

Autostarts (and it's for rooted phones) helped me control when different apps start. Before that apps like maps and gallery would start and run all the time eating into battery life. With autostarts I extended the batt life siugnificantly

Only if you've got everything that would normally synch switched off... which kinda defeats the point of a smartphone
Well I do have my sleep time from 10 pm to 7 am with Battery Defender, and I don't have Sync on all the time, but I am still getting excellent battery usage

Apart from GPS the biggest battery killer I see is 3G. This may be network dependant (I am O2 in the UK). But since I set the phone to turn off 3G when the screen is off ( but turn it back on for 1 minute every 15 for email, updates etc) I have seen a 50% improvement in my battery life.
I use a custom routine in Tasker to do this but something like Juice defender does pretty much the same thing

Sorry for the late reply.

Thanks very much for all of your replies, really appreciate it. I'll download Autostarts and Battery Defender and see how I go. Juice Defender looks like a better download than Battery Defender but I'll look into them both.

Heard a lot of good reviews on the Anker battery so I shall have to purchase 1 and calibrate it.

What is the most hours use you can get out of a battery, stock battery or Anker battery if you're a heavy user with most things turned off? I leave wifi turned on at home when I'm using it as the 1 gig of data I get with Orange would easily get used in a month. Everything else is turned off. I found with about 3 hours of wifi, about 35 minutes of calls and say an hour listening to music and the battery was only lasting between 8 and 10 and a half hours.

Gps, listening to music and wifi seem to be the biggest killers. In fact listening to music uses up more battery than wifi does. Some users say 3G uses more power than wifi but I'm not convinced by this. I have even disabled the Android wallpapers as well.

3g battery drain will depend significantly on signal strength. Poor signal that drops between 2g and 3g frequently will use a lot of power

i've been really unlucky with the sensation, had two handsets which out of the box have had the same issue where they are constantly awake, which means i was only getting 5 hours out of the battery. decided to move onto the XE now

I have been using Juice Defender Ultimate and it seems to be doing an ok job at making the battery last a little longer. Using Auto Run Manager as well.

I'm considering changing the battery in mine since it struggles to last a full day unless I hardly use it, but can't decide which one to go for. I've seen Anker and Chichitec 1900mAh batteries for sale, as well as some 2430mAh ones on ebay which I doubt are any good. Out of the Anker and Chichitec, is one better than the other?

I'm going to buy the Anker battery off Amazon for

I've heard betterbatterystats is a good app for finding out what is draining the life out of your battery.

Yeah, I figured the ebay ones won't be up to much, hence why I've not bought one. And I'm already using betterbatterystats, can't find anything sapping the battery though.

I think my main battery killer is the tapatalk app, since I spend a lot of time on car forums, checking fairly often between jobs at work, etc.

I would challenge anyone who is a heavy user to get more than 12 hours battery use out of the stock battery. I usually get about 12 to 14 hours if I use airplane mode and just listen to music. The people getting over 16 hours must be moderate to light users.
