Poor quality wallpaper

Is it just me or do custom wallpapers get optimized or dumbed down when you choose them? I will download high quality wallpapers for my phone and crop them to set as background, but they look like crap when they're applied.

Well I tried that and it's still coming out poor quality. It still asks me to crop to my preference even though it's at 960x854. What's more annoying is it adds a small grey border on the nottom and right of the picture too so I'm not sure if I've resized it properly. Is there another way to do this?

The x10 has a resolution of 480x864. but when you want a wallpaper, that image spans across 3 screens, hence the resolution of your image must be 960x854 pixels....so I hope you have 3 home screens and not more.

Try and make your picture black and white or sepia....I notice that when you try and cram too many colors things get blurred....but some pics can look really clear and other pixely and blurry. Try saving the file differently too...like a PNG instead of a JPG...don't compress the color palette if you mess with the JPG.

You could try and put the files in the wallpaper section too....so that you don't have to crop them through Mediascape

The location of wallpapers are in the following location, but you need root access to put stuff in there:

/etc/customization/content/com/sonyericsson/android/wallpaperchooser/wallpaper
