Poor reception, any help would be appreciated

There is one stretch of road on my way home from work with sketchy reception. I had a tour and never dropped a call on this stretch. My Hero drops it EVERY time and also drops at other places off and on. Any suggestions. I have updated the profile and prl.
 
There are newer versions of the radio software available, i've found my data connection has improved since updtaing mine. However, you do have to have to root your phone so it's not necessarily for everyone.

However please note that in order to update the radio you need to have rooted / installed Amon Ra so they can access the recovery menu to flash the radio.

But as daveybaby as kindly pointed out follow those above instructions in the link he has provided.
