poor reception with S3 vs Nexus One/iPhone 3G

has anyone noticed that the reception/signal with the SIII is not as great as other phones?

My previous phones included a Galaxy Nexus One and an iPhone 3G. Both phones were with the same carrier and the locations I've been hanging out and about are pretty much the same. I've noticed that with the SIII the reception is a lot worse than the other two phones, with the data connection being really bad when the reception is low.

Any thoughts on this? Is there any way to boost the signal? I know there's a known issue with the batter percentage on 'cell standby' being too high but I think mine's too high because the reception is so bad that it has to try for the battery.

Thanks

No, I've has the same problems. I've had the Droid X, an iPhone4, and an iPhone4s and they all had better reception than this phone.

I drop calls like crazy in my basement where with the other phones I had no issues at all. Carrier = Verizon.

On Verizon it seems replacing the SIM card has solved the problem for many, although some replaced twice before it was solved. I have had iPhone4/4S and My S3 is easily as good or better in poor areas as those but not quite as good as a Razr/Razr Maxx

I have to agree, My iphone 4S and htc evo 3d all had kick ass reception. this phone is okay. Also notice the WiFi is not as good too???

Out of all of the US Variants, the only reception issues I've been hearing about are people on Verizon. I've heard swapping the SIM card helps some and I've heard some swapped the entire phone out which helped a lot.

Another thing is the kind of case you're using. Is anyone here using a thick case and having reception issues?

Just for the record, I'm on T-Mobile and the S3 has provided me with the best reception out of any phone I've owned. My wife too. Past phones have included, Nexus One, G2X, Sensation and GS2.

My Verizon GS3 works fine in areas with strong cell and wifi, but terrible in areas with moderate to weak coverage. That is, if cell coverage is 4G with one bar, or 3G/no G, it often won't connect calls. Similarly, in areas where my other devices find adequate cell or wifi signal, my GS3 doesn't. It also performs very poorly (drops calls often) when 4G shifts to 3G. Are most users having these problems or did I just get a lemon?
