Help POP 3 E-mail Help - Deleted box

jkensing

Newbie
I had over 7,400 e-mails in my deleted box on my handset and have a few questions.

1.) Where is the deleted e-mails stored? (server or phone)?
2.) There is a "Delete All" option it ran for approx 7 hours and I am down to approx 6,300 e-mails remaining.

I thought I would clear them as there are attachments to many of the e-mails and if it takes up physical space on the phone then I'm thinking it's a good idea to clear them to save on space.

Any clarification would be helpful. It's going to take days to clear out the deleted box.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sorry I can't answer your problem, but I thought you might be able to help me.

How do you find the folders on the Galaxy S?
If I go in to the e-mail program I can see the e-mails that have come in & I can read them, and across the top I have Inbox, Drafts & Sent items. But quite often the e-mails then vanish - I haven't asked to delete them, I can click a button that "says move to folder", but then can't press it any more (as in I'm not given any folder options).

I can't see deleted items, stored e-mail, or any other folders other than the three tabs across the top.

Where do I look for these?

Hope you can help,

Mike.

You have to click the "left menu" button at the bottom of the phone and you will have 6 options at the bottom of the screen. Click on "folders", top right... This will bring up your folders "Inbox, Drafts, Outbox, Sent, Trash.".

Hope this helps.

I had an answer to this on the Verizon Wireless Forum. I deleted them last night overnight I think it takes approx 1 hour to delete 1,000 messages.

The answer from the other forum is as follows:

The (deleted) emails are stored in both locations, although the phone only stores a small part of the message unless you retrieve the whole message. If you set the phones email program up to delete the mesage on the server when the message is deleted on your phone, then it will be gone on the server. If you do not, then it will stay there until it is deleted.

The DELETE ALL option, as you have seen, takes A LONG TIME to run. I do not let mine get to large, only a couple hundred messages before I delete them, and that still takes awhile...

Thanks for taking the time to reply, but sadly its different on mine.

If I press the left menu button I do get six options (compose, refresh, search, accounts, account settings & more - more leads to text size & view mode) - the top right option is search, which supposedley searches through my e-mails according to title, sender or all, and even if I choose "all" it doesn't find anything, even if I type in the exact title of an e-mail that disappeared half an hour ago.

There isn't a folders option, and I can't seem to find the deleted items / saved items etc. anywhere - I'm reasonably intelligent, and I've been through everything several times - it just isn't there.

Thanks anyway,

Mike.
