I'm pretty happy with the Galaxy S3 on Verizon except for the email functionality. I'm using a POP3 account, and it seems a downgrade from the email on my old HTC Incredible. A few items that bug me:
- S3 can only check email every 15 minutes, which is most frequent setting; Verizon Rep said it is to save battery life. The Incredible seemed like it was constantly checking the sever and would usually get emails even before my desktop PC with an email program open would.
- on the S3, the amount of time that emails stay in the inbox after being read is very arbitrary, and they seem to disappear after just a couple of hours. Even if I've read them, I'd like them to stay in the inbox for at last a day.
- SMS notification icon (envelope) appears on the lock screen when a text is received, but there is no email notification on the lock screen.
The Verizon rep said there is better email functionality on the phone if I use gmail - is that true? Or is there a better email app or widget I can use with my POP3 account?
Thanks
