POP3 Email

Can't seem to send email from the pop3 account set up on my smartphone. (Samsung Galaxy S2).

Can receive no problem, but when I try and reply to an email or send a new one I just get a message saying send failed.

Have checked and double checked the pop3 and smtp settings and all are correct.

Can anyone offer an insight?

Thanks

How have you set up the sending part of the server information?

Most SMTP servers will not accept mail that they must relay, i.e. if you are connected to T-Mobile, but are trying to use the SMTP server at example.com, the ISP where you receive your mail, the mail will not be accepted by the server unless it is addressed to someone ar example.com.

Consult the help pages at your mail service provider to see how to set up your mail client. In the case of my ISP, it will accept secured mail via port 465 using SSL (with my UserID and Passwd). This setting is under the "outgoing server" or similar in your mail client.

i've tried both K9 and Maildorid......same problem, can receive but not send.

Also tried changinp the outgoing port to 465 as suggested, but it won't accept that at all.

confused!

freeserve - orange now, but the pop and smtp settings on my pc still say freeserve.

have also tried changing these to orange which isn't accepted.
