Help Populating the M8 phone book

Arismac

Newbie
My service provider transferred my data from a Sim Card to a Mini Sim Card but my phonebook got lost. So I need to repopulate the M8 phone book with about 40 entries but can not find out how to get started.

I have tapped on the Phone icon and the word Phonebook appears at the top left of the screen. But apart from leaving sweaty fingerprints all over the M8 I am achieving nothing. More help please, thank you kindly.

Cheers,
Mac

Hello again :)

You can find this information here: HTC.COM FAQ

The easiest way would probably be to open the dialer. Once opened swipe left or right (I changed my default order) until you find the People tab.

On the People tab, tap + (it's up at the top on the right side)
Tap the Name field, and then enter the contact name. Tap to separately enter the contact's given, middle, or family name and name suffix, such as Jr.

Select the Contact type. This determines which account the contact will sync with. Personally I would stay with Google since this ensures you will have your contacts available even if you lose your phone.

Tap save and you are done!

When you tap the added contact on your contacts list, you'll see the contact information and your exchange of messages and calls. Depending on the information that you've added to the contact (such as an email address), you'll also be able to see the contact's social network updates, events, and photos.

If you tap that word PhoneBook in the top left blue colored header, it should drop down and let you select which PhoneBooks to currently display within People. SIM should be one of the PhoneBook choices you can choose to have actively showing in People.

You may want to make sure the SIM category is checked. If it is un-checked, that PhoneBook, will NOT be displayed in People. Possibly making you think it is lost? There is also a quantification shown to the right of the name, showing how many contacts are on the SIM.
It will appear something sort of like this: ☑ SIM_______(##) | ...

The contacts from the old SIM may be backed up to your Google/Gmail account and may be recoverable for you to put on the new phone and SIM respectively.
Also did you keep the Standard/Mini/Micro SIM after they may or may not have transferred your contacts to the Nano SIM? If you have it, the leftover Standard/Mini/Micro SIM from your prior device would maybe still be accessible in another device with the old data still on it?
