popup ad after calls and incoming messages

not sure what causing it but On my Note 5, after each call, i get a popup that reads "just call with" and then their contact name. theres a picture of a cartoon man on a phone, my call duration for the month and if my data is on, theres a random adchoices ad that is starting to really annoy me.

my incoming call screen also changed to a black screen with a bouncing green answer button.

my incoming text messages trigger a popup too that has the same ad as the end call popup.

can anyone tell me how to find and disable the app that is causing all these ads?
 
thanks in advance for any help. some of my friends phones are doing the same thing. and theyre not sure how it happened to their phones either
 
Someone else was reporting something sounding similar yesterday. Does yours look like what's in the OP's attached screen-shot?

What apps have you installed or updated recently, chances are it is one of those. Are you using anything "free" like GO, DU(Baidu), ES Explorer, Cheetah Mobile, 360, flashlight apps etc.


I've not heard of this before, but two apparently very similar reports in 24 hours. I guess that some "free" adware app has been installed, pushed or very recently updated

this stupid thing replaced my incoming call screen. im hoping someone will recognize it and let me know how to disable it.

This is interesting, because I recently had similar issues adding a second "lock screen" overlay on top of mine, as well as popping up various ads. With some extensive research, I finally learned it was caused by an app named "Beacon Flashlight". And the sad thing is, I did not install it. This app CAME BUNDLED on my newly purchased LG V20 US Unlocked phone, which is totally factory stock, and not rooted. So was apparently put there by LG themselves! Removing the app fixed the problem. I have no idea why it was there, because this phone (and I suspect most phones to be the same) has more than one option to easily turn on the flashlight function of the back LED. No need for an "app" to do it.
 
Had same problem after a phone call or text starting last week. Deleted my app "Caller Name Announcer Pro" and those darn popups after a phone call disappeared. Now I have to look for another "caller ID talker".

Plagued me for 2 weeks and removed apps one by one. As others suspected, it was a flashlight app. It's gone now. App has an icon that several apps use, so I don't remember precisely which one. Not going to reinstall one to be sure. Looks like this.

It's the CAMERA 360 apps, just uninstall it.
 
I've been having this same problem for weeks now and because of this forum I decided to just start deleting apps.
The app that worked for me when I started deleting them was actually Samsung Pay. (I was checking to see if the pop up would come after calling voice mail over and over) Hope this might help someone if the before mentioned apps don't work for them.
 
This has been a problem that's been bothering me for weeks and I've finally had enough. I checked numerous forums and found multiple responses for which app is the culprit. I believe I've found a blanket solution that should work regardless of what app these annoying popups are paired with.
When you send or receive a text or call, the popup appears, in the corner there is the "settings gear icon", click that to open the actual app where it asks me to choose which flashcall light up display I prefer.
Once on that screen, press the "menu button" on your phone to open the list of running apps.
This will tell you which app the popups are paired with (mine was a QR reader), now you know which app to delete. Bingo.
