Root (Port) Behold 2 1.6 ( No Twiz w/ Busybox & Rooted Kernel )

one quick suggestion, can you make the data notification completely stock android? Where it shows the arrows??? Or something else than whats currently on here? Thanks!

Hi everyone, I am a newbie and I am so happy that I found this website. I just got a Behold II last week and have been reading this thread. I am still trying to understand some of the terms used here by looking up stickies. Just a couple of dumb questions: I may not have been looking at the right place, but what does ODIN mean? Is there a list of what features BH_MAN's rom added to and taken out of the stock rom? Thanks for your guidance. :)

Cool

ODIN is a program we use to install our roms

Thanks for all your work BH_MAN. Oooo I can't wait to get my hands on your newest version of this rom. Was tempted to go try the stock one until it comes out tomorrow (pending tests go ok), but I think I''ll wait. I don't have the sleep bug nor do I get many FC's so this version is completely usable for me. Tomorrow is my longest day of the week unfortunately though so it's going to be agonizing waiting through work and then class to get home charge up my phone and odin away.

Thanks again.

I don't know what was different about this (my fifth) flash with this rom, but I finally have great battery life!

11 hours of up time, GPS on, moderate usage (a few calls and texts, a few levels of Bonsai Blast), and I'm still at 67%! Thank you so much for all of your hard work BH_MAN! I'm looking forward to 2.1!

Update: 17 hours and 33% left! I never thought I'd see the day!

BH_MAN you are the man! This is the best rom out there. Forgot about the Galaxy Rom. We now have vibrate, Samsung camera and 1.6. May I mention the best battery life! I took my phone off the charger at 7:00am yesterday and still had juice at 11:00pm ha ha. This has be the most stable Rom out there. If people are complaining about battery life what are you guys doing? Running You Tube all day?

Anyway thanks BH_MAN

not really .. 7 - 11 with some leftover to spare is not exactly great battery life :D , 40-48hrs with moderate usage is actually the 'norm', but because the kernel has some inherent bugs/leaks/problems (whatever you call it), some roms drain battery really fast as the phone cant sleep. this is not a problem unique to behold II or samsung, afaik, N1 has it, so does Hero (1.6 and up)

Sometimes it takes time for the rom to settle down, so to speak, to where it gets the good battery life people talk about. I flashed this rom last thursday or friday and every day since then my battery life has gotten better. The first day after odin I had to charge half way through the day. The next day, I needed to charge 3/4ths of the way through the day. By the third day I could make it the whole day without a charge, but by the time I plugged it in before I went to bed it was almost dead. By yesterday when I plugged it in I had 68% left and that was with using google navigator for about an hour then my normal surfing and texting throughout the day.

*** DO THIS FOR BETTER BATTERY LIFE ***

BH_MAN has told us to do this probably over a hundred times regarding his roms. The secret to great battery life is very simple, but apparently it gets buried in these threads.

Simply let your phone die after installing the rom. Personally, I use the crap out of it (Pandora, GPS on, YouTube, etc...) during the day so that I can get it to die before the night.

Then, with the phone remained off, charge it over night. Turn it on the following morning, and voila, amazing battery life.

This works for me every time. It's a matter of calibrating your battery, and this is how you do it.

Easy there buddy, I wasn't complaining about my battery life if that's what you thought. I have followed all the steps to the letter. Eventually, red letters or not, that message will get buried in the thread too... no offense intended. To be honest I've never really had horrible battery life like so people talk about. I really like by behold 2... I know oh my god he likes it!?!... yep sure do. Liked it even when it was stock. After I rooted removed a few things added a few apps I had great battery life and hardly any restarts or vibration freezes.

However, now that BH_MAN has come along I absolutely love my phone. With the work he's done we can have a phone that's on par or better that a lot of the android phones out there right now. The ones that are better like the droid or nexus one come with an obvious price difference if you're not extending/starting a new contract.

I'm a college guy who's paying his own way so I couldn't afford to switch to verizon or buy the nexus one for the full price. It took me two months to save up the $250 I paid for my bh2 which I got on ebay. My choices where the cliq, BH2, or MYT3g. Thanks to BH_MAN I don't regret my choice one bit.

i followed the above to the dots .. and am still doing it (from full to zero - when phone is off - I have done it like 8 times maybe) .. but no, I dont think battery draining has anything to do with battery calibration, at least not in my case. very simple, if I do not use wifi location service or reboot after using it, I get superb battery life (2-3% drain overnight; cause the phone sleeps as per normal), if I use it (even if i switch it off after using it; and no, i didnt do it via android's default settings or the power tool widget, I specifically accessed them through samsung's settings, just to make sure) and did not reboot, bam, it is few % drain within half-an hour, again, because the phone cant sleep (as per BH_MAN's tip, press menu button after phone idles for 5min, if the screen turns off, sorry, phone is not sleeping).

i came from N1 and Hero, and I can attest the above happens on both phones too (not all though, only on certain roms certain kernels, exactly which I am not sure as I didnt go that deep)

It's a smart phone lol...You get 48 hours on a smart phone? I have had numerous smart phones G1, Cliq (horrible battery life btw), and Blackberry I don't think I had 1 phone last past 48 hours. The battery technology is not there yet to keep our smart phones charged that long. Or if it is it's just to expensive.

BH_MAN the only bug I came across is that Wi-Fi does not stay connected. I have to go in manually and connect after the phone wakes. Any idea?

It's a known Problem.. I can't do anything with it due to the Framework.jar breaks when I smali it to a .dex class... This is the same issue I'm having with the Galaxy rom regarding Vibrate... Parts are getting left behind, & Honestly I Turn off my Wifi when not using it with the Power Control Widget.. Saves battery life as well...

Sweet! And BHman, don't know if you seen my post, is there a way to remove that stupid 30 second lockout timer if you get your unlock code wrong twice or whatever?
