Root (Port) Behold II Factory 1.6

There's always the No-TWIZ version which is basically this ROM minus all of the bloatware.

Take5 is the latest (found on androidspin.com)

I thought about it, but aren't there still some bugs with the no TWIZ version- like freezes? So far this stock is serving me well and I don't mind TWIZ too much as I never use it. Have you had any issues with it?

The only issue I've had with Take5 is that Mosaic doesn't work on the camera.

Warheads (the previous No-TWiz version) had a number of FC/Waits.... Hitting Wait would fix it, but that's a pain :-P

So, thusfar, in the... Month? Month+ I've had Take5, the only FC/Waits I've had are at bootup, and those are rare (as I rarely reboot the phone)
 
Even though the Cube button is mapped to Search, I assume the Cube is still available. Am I right? I actually kind of miss it and I can't find a good a good image viewer (I have Take5 and don't like the nswPlayer).

Also, how does battery life in Factory 1.6 compare to Take5?

I can't think of a reason not to get this Factory 1.6 instead of Take5.

EDIT: Just to be sure, I can put Factory 1.6 on with Odin, right?
 
Yup. All of the ROMs use ODIN.


Factory's battery life and overall speed are noticably worse than No-TWiz


The No-Twiz versions don't have Cube at all.

There are some posts on the AndroidSpin forums on how to get the factory "Gallery" (picture viewer/video player/etc) on Take5.

I am curious about that too. I am using take5, and I am too lazy to flash it again unless there are significant improvements. Please let me know if you have any confirmations.:D

Well if you want fast, better performance and better battery life then for me the Galaxy Roms were the best. the only thing it doesn't have is vibrate

In my experiences the Galaxy ROMS are much faster and reliable. No luck on vibrate working, I believe it's been said that it will never work in the Galaxy ROMS.
 
Galaxy is the fastest and has the best battery life. However, you have *NO* vibration hardware at all when you use it (no amount of apps will make it work. It's basically just NOT THERE). You also lose the Behold II's camera software (Meaning no super zoom, no panoramic, no scenes, etc etc etc)

Factory 1.6 is exactly like how you bought your phone, but with 1.6 instead (meaning Maps Navigation, etc)

No-Twiz / Take5 is Factor 1.6 with all of the TouchWiz stuff removed (Cube, animated desktop, etc). This speeds of the phone considerably (though not as much as Galaxy) as well as saves a tonne of battery life (though not QUITE as much as Galaxy). It also still uses the same Notification Bar (The one with WiFi, Bluetooth, etc). Galaxy does not.

Good news! I used Any Cut and found the stock Android image and video viewer.
 
yes, download "Any Cut" from the market. Then long-press on your home screen and select Shortcuts, then select Any Cut, then Activity, then scroll way down and select the first "Photos" activity.
 
Do we know, or does BH_Man know, if there are any changes between the firmware and kernel he used for the Stock 1.6 he received from Mark TWain vs what's rolling out OTA right now? I wasn't clear if what he was using was a beta or the same thing being released now.

im wondering the same thing. I understand how to use ODIN, but which download is the actual ROM. Also, after flashing the rom, do we still need to flash the fix, and camera fix or are they already included with the ODIN flash? Thanks!
 
Just a note for anyone who's curious:

This is *NOT* the released version of 1.6 that was pushed by T-Mobile in the last week.


This is basically a pre-pre-release version that was leaked.

(Here's to hoping that Nu11u5 gets the Official 1.6 gets ODIN'd shortly)
