Portable speakers for Tablets

I really despair of Asus - most of the crap they announce is simply vapourware! Audio dock for Nexus 7 - a lot of hot air about as useful as a fart in a hurricane - it never appeared. Dock for TF201? Where the hell is it? More empty promises. Asus are like pathetic politicians - promise the earth then deliver nothing.

So instead of wasting money on Asus products, what portable speakers (stereo) would you recommend? I prefer a wired system rather than BT - and they are probably cheaper than 'docks'.

u could hook up a wire to a Jambox. :)

Why hook up a wire to Jambox? You can stream audio to any Bluetooth speaker including Jambox. I have a Creative D200 at my office that I listen to Pandora from my N7. Also have a Logitech Bluetooth adapter connected to my home stereo for the same.

Sorry, missed the wire comment. BT sounds pretty good to my ears. There are lots of inexpensive portable speakers, though you still have to pay a few $$ to get good sound IMO.

LOL! Of course I use my Jambox with BT. The OP wanted a wired solution. I see you noticed why I wrote what I did. :)

If you have the extra pocket money, try Braven. Their costly but sound quality is excellent for what you pay for and in addition its durable and works wired or BT.

I bought a Jambox some time ago. Love it for all my portable audio needs. It's bundled with a phono cable so you can use it on non-bluetooth devices as well. It's my portable speaker for laptops, tablets and phones now.

Whatever you do, do not get RocketFish speakers for your N7. Anything made by that manufacturer seems to either wear out within a few weeks. I went with a Creative D100 BT speaker. It's fantastic. I've been able to sit my N7 somewhere and walk with the speakers for as far as 30 yards and still get great audio (great bass too).

Beg to differ. I have RocketFish RF- MAB BT headset and it's totally fab.

You and I are entitled to our own opinions. My experience with RocketFish accessories for both my mobile phones & past devices have been short lived due to the lack of durability and cheaply made products. Most of the time, I ended up exchanging them for another one or for a refund. Everybody has a different experience.

Many thanks for all the suggestions - very good insights. IN THE END I bought these:-
Creative Gigaworks T20 Series II Multimedia Speakers
