Root Porting in ICS Dialer / Contacts?

Okay, so I'm frankensteining my own stock ICS rom for the phone. I'm replacing the Sense elements with stock ICS ones, which is hard because Sense is pretty much everywhere. I think I'm getting closer though, but am having a hell of a time replacing the dialer and contacts apps. Has anyone done this, or had any amount of success with it?

Truthfully the more you tinker with it the more things will break somewhere else. With all respects with what you ate trying to do you either have sense or aosp but you can never truly make sense into aosp. This is not alchemy, lead to gold. My advice for people who want a look different from sense while still using the sense base is to theme, not disable sense. Or run a different launcher.
A great example of this is disabling the lock screen of sense which will break caller id functions when the phone is locked. There are myriads of things that are dependent of each other in sense.
In my opinion sense was not that bad. Properly tweaked and with some mods it is not bad at all.
The best I have done as this is something I tried once was to install a third party dialer and use that instead of the sense one.

Yeah I mean the caller id thing is one downside for sure. You have to unlock the phone to see who's calling. But, on the upside, since removing sense I'm getting much better performance and battery life than otherwise, so it's a trade off I'm willing to take. I just wish I could figure out the damn dialer lol. I did take your advice and installed a third party dialer app, but I'd still just like stock ics. If only I were a little bit smarter and could figure it out lol
