Porting number from Verizon to AT&T

I have two lines on my Verizon account. One for me and the other for my daughter.

I need to port my number from Verizon to ATT because Verizon reception is bad where I work and the company I work at has ATT repeaters in the building.

Is there any risk of loosing my number during the port process?

I don't plan to port the second line right away. The second line is my daughters and she lives in another state so I won't be able to port her number until next month.

When I port my number will her number still be active on Verizon?

Thanks

I've never heard of anyone loosing a number during a port - it's a pretty standard procedure and usually takes a few hours.

I believe her number will still be active and become the main number on the account, but I'm not 100% as I've never ported just the main account number before.

Just change the account to make her number the main number, then port to AT&T.

Numbers have been lost during porting - but the only cases I've heard of have been on-line ports to Straight talk. If their porting site crashes your connection as you port (which happens all too frequently), you lose your number.

But you'll be doing this in person at an AT&T store or a Best Buy store or some place like that, so it'll be done manually (they'll call Verizon's porting department) and you'll walk out of the store with a working AT&T phone on your number.
