Porting Problems

Did you all use your phone number as the account number, or the actual account number?

I used my phone number as the account number. I recall reading that the Virgin Mobile account number is the same as the phone number on a forum.

That may be the problem.
The salesman at Walmart told me to be sure to get my actual account number, not just the phone number, to port from VM. He said that using the phone number could cause a couple days delay. Sure enough, I called VM and got connected to account services, and there is an account number associated with your number. Mine has 9-digits, 4 letters and 4 numbers with a dash.

Oh. I guess I should have researched that more. The T-Mobile rep I spoke with tonight created a ticket and sent it into engineering. Hopefully it eventually gets resolved.

When I first tried porting my vm number to cricket, I was given this account number with the letters and dashes, and it wouldn't even work. It gave an error in his system and I had to call virgin back. This time they told me to use the phone number, and it went through. So I left, and by the time I was exciting the parking lot it went through.

Virgin has been switching I've to their new system that uses account numbers not mobile numbers. I had to call and get my account number and once I did 10 minutes and it was done.

Oh that's probably why it took so long to port. I just hope I'll eventually receive texts from AT&T users. Lol.

As an update I am still having problems receiving text messages from AT&T customers as well as Verizon customers. It is getting pretty frustrating. Currently there are two different support tickets open. They tried to rebroadcast my number twice. I am still going to wait because I really like the phone.

Sorry to keep bumping my thread but it looks like it finally receives texts from other carriers! I think one of the last tickets finally fixed the problem. The T-Mobile rep said something about a routing problem.

Glad it seems to be fixed. What a nightmare.

Thanks! It was a nightmare. I think the first rep I spoke to today said to give the support tickets more time. Finally I eventually spoke to a rep that said it should now be fixed then asked me to turn the phone off then turn it back on, send a message to myself, then try and have someone reply to one of my texts or something. I was pretty impressed with the service because I asked if she could call back a little later so I could get some test texts and she did.
