Possible issue with rooting

Having tried my usual methods (SuperOneClick & Flashtool) and after a conversation with a Sony Rep, I have found what may be an issue stopping rooting, until a workaround can be found.

Namely the Internal Storage is locked by default to MTP. Clicking on the Drop Down box, which used to be used to switch modes, only offers an explanation of the functions (ie MTP & MSC), but will not allow switching.

Apparently this is now standard on ALL new Sony Xperia's, probably in order to stop rooting!

:(

If anyone has found any other methods, without disabling MTP please post a reply. Thanks.

what rom are you on?

I have an xperia go that was on 2.3.4 gb. I upgraded to jb 4.1.2 (A.1.100) via the pc companion.

To root it I used the DooMLoRD Easy Rooting kit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2335992 , you must be on fw revision 6.2.A.1.100

You must have the relevant drivers installed on your PC the run the .bat file and follow the onscreen instructions. (Unknown sources tick box is in settings> security). Roots the phone instantly.
