I have been very frustrated with my unreliable (sometimes on, but mostly off) 4G data service for the past 2-3 weeks. It was getting worse every day. This morning, I couldn't hold 4G (or even 3G) for more than a minute or two between data drops. My efforts last week installing a new SIM card solved nothing. The Airplane Mode Reboot trick turned out to only be a temporary fix, at best. I wanted something permanent and something painless (no hard resets for me).
Then I found a solution that is remarkably simple and I have been steady at 15 Mbps all afternoon. Here is my recipe:
1] Go to Settings > Battery & Data Manager > Data Delivery
2] There are three check boxes (Background Data, Data Roaming, and Data Enabled). Check ALL THREE.
3] Reboot your phone and go party.
In my case, two boxes were checked, but Data Roaming was not. When I checked it, my high speed Internet returned and it has been stable for more than five hours. Your mileage may vary. Try my solution and see if it works for you.
Enjoy!
