Possible to send / receive picture mail while connected to 4G?

I read somewhere that on Sprints network......it will not allow you to send or receive picture mail while connected to 4G.....that it must be 3G

Is this true?

Not true as far as I know.

Just sent one and it went through.

I'd be more interesting in why there's a need to compress photo files since 4G supposedly is unlimited and should be able to handle it bandwith-wise. I guess they just don't want to open that Pandora's box.
