possibly upgrade?

My droid eris is slowly getting worse and worse with the lag. Fortunately, I recently found out verizon screwed up my last upgrade date and i dont have to wait another year to get a new phone. I was thinking about getting the incredible but I'm reading a lot about overheating issues with the incredible. Is it worth it or does verizon have anything else coming out I should wait for?

Thanks

Verizon is ALWAYS coming out with new phones. its the way of technology. even if you wait and get the latest and greatest. itll only last a couple months at best. I'd say do what works for you. I had no problems with my Eris O/Ced

Did you OC the Eris? At 768 that thing runs great. But to your point, the DI is, I think, the best phone on the market now. It's as fast as you need it to be, the call quality is great, rooted with a decent kernel extends battery life tremendously, and very comfortable size wise. Our family has 3 of them for over a year, (coming from the Erii) and there is no reason to either look back or forward at this time. I did keep one Eris, rooted, in case something happens to a DI. But renewals are coming and I might sell off my Eris although I don't want to. I got $132 from Verizon for it but still haven't sent it back.
Oh well, TMI for this thread. Get the DI, you'll be happy you did.

Verizon buys old cell phones. Do a search and you'll find the site. The Eris is being bought back for $132 and has been for some time. Back to your OP. I came from a rooted Eris and I LOVED it. It was fast (O/C) and did everything I needed in a phone at the time. The only reason I sold it is I got an Incredible deal (;)) on an Incredible. I got the Inc for free by using an upgrade on my family share. I also sold my Eris on craigslist for $200. So, I basically got $200 for a better phone, it was a no brainer. If you want a new phone right now I would say get the Inc. If you can tough it out for a while VZW will be coming out with some new phones in the coming months. I wouldn't trade my Inc for any phone that's out right now.

I can't remember the exact url for it, but as Wormdoes says, do a search here... oh what the heck, here it is.
Verizon Trade In
You might need to try it a few times until it says $132 and not $0. But it will work, at least it did for me a couple of days ago.

I don't think you need to be to concerned with overheating. The biggest issue is battery life, something you just have to get use to. Sure there are things that can help with that but I'm not gonna get into that. Why don't you wait for the HTC Thunderbolt? Thinking a March release????

i came from a rooted overclocked droid eris and i find the battery life to be slightly better on the incredible. Also, i have not had any problems with overheating.

The incredible is definitely worth the upgrade. There is no comparison between the eris and incredible! HTC got it right on this one. I also love the fact that it has stock, carrier supported 2.2 instead of some 2.2 ROM. It feels good to have a phone that is still supported! :)
