Post 2.2 upgrade questions

Hello -

I ran the upgrade to 2.2 the day after it was released. I have a couple of questions.

1. Prior to the upgrade, while on 2.1, there was a setting that allowed me to NOT have the screen come on, or stay on, while charging the battery. The reason I liked this was because once the battery was done charging, it would give the message indicating that and to disconnect the battery. I did not want this to come on because I was concerned about screen burn. I have either forgotten where this setting is, or it disappeared once upgraded to 2.2. Anyone know how to do this on 2.2?

2. I bought the car dock prior to upgrading. I was psyched because not only did it have the ability to charge while the phone was docked, but there was an "external speaker" jack as well. I have one of those old cassette tape things that plugs into the 3.5 mm output of an audio player and into the tape deck in my car. I was disappointed when I read that the technology to get this to work on the car dock was only available on 2.2. So, once I upgraded to 2.2, I tried it. Problem is that it still is trying to play through the speaker on the phone and not through the "output" connection on the car dock. Anyone know how to fix this?

Thank you all for listening to me ramble.

I've seen a lot of people complain about #1. I don't have the issue unless I'm using an A/C charger or charging off the USB port on my PC. If I use the wall charger and USB cord that came with my phone, it does not turn the screen on when it reaches full charge. It did not do it when I was on 2.1 and it doesn't do it now on 2.2. Both versions would light up if I was using the A/C charger.

For item 2, go to the Market and download and install the app "Galaxy Dock Sound Redirector".

Reboot your phone and it should work. BTW this is only going to work if you are running 2.2.

Ok, so I am now at the point, after doing some research and reading, that I think I may back-up my phone (data, apps, contacts, etc.), wipe it back to 2.1 and then restore it up to 2.2 again to see if this helps.

Does anyone have any reasons that I should not try this? Do you think it could help with the battery life problems so many of us are having? Do you think it could also resolve the issues I keep having with my "low memory" notification that I am getting more and more frequently?

Looking for some support and advise before I really go and mess up my phone.

Thanks everyone.

I would try doing a full backup, followed by a factory reset. I don't think it will solve the battery problem, but it will help some of the other issues.

For the low memory issue, try moving as many apps as possible to your SD card, rather than storing them internally.

Is the Factory Reset something you do from the phone itself? is it different than what I have read called a "wipe"? Will the factory reset revert the phone back to 2.1 like it was when I bought it, then I will have to upgrade back to 2.2?

I appreciate all of your feedback and assistance!

It is one of the options in settings. It keeps you on 2.2, but it does wipe the phone. (Your contacts and downloaded apps are removed)
