How much Ram does your Indulge regularly use without any apps running? (Of course Widgets, Startup apps don't count)

Mines varies from 156-177 MB.. most of the time its at 177 MB

Just curious to see how much ram your indulges use.

Thanks, not bad but I'd expect it to be lower since you are using a ROM that is suppose to have lower RAM usage, I've just optimized my stock ROM by removing ALOT of Apps that I'd never use instead of just living them there.

Ummm... Kaiser17, I'm afraid you're thinking about this all wrong. The ratio of free/used ram in android is not to be thought of as what happens when you use a computer. Their scheduling mechanisms are different. Android emphasizes efficiency, and therefore gives a lower importance to freeing ram, and more on persistence and responsiveness. Therefore, more memory is occupied for "potential use", kinda like cache on a computer (ok, devs will crucify me for the crude comparison, but I hope it drives the point home). Needless to say, trying to "optimize" an android based device by freeing more RAM is, at the very least, somewhat misguided.

What exactly is optimization in your book? Well in my book optimizing something is making it more stable so it runs smooth, fast and has fewer crashes or no crashes than it normally would and is more efficient in saving battery.

So when I say I optimized I Indulge, that's exactly what I did and im not "thinking about this all wrong" because I don't get crashes, force closes anymore and my phone runs smoothly with about 12-14 hours of battery life a day without even using a Custom ROM such as basix for example.

What is a Custom ROM? It does exactly what I described above, it optimizes your phone for better performance and stability and gives it a nice look, that's all it does. Basically eye candy.. that's why im not using a custom ROM as I already did everything to get the best performance out of my phone myself.

So what exactly is "optimization" to you?

i merely said ram use does not reflect optimization.
Nobody said anything about removal of bloatware.

when im not doing anything its around what everyone else is posting. but when im doing stuff its usually around the 220/295 mark
