Root Post Etiquette

A lot of threads in this sub forum in particular have poor etiquette. Titles akin to "mms texting no workie" and "phone broke :(" are really not helping our appearance to other devs and people that might be able to spread the word of a complete, mature, development forum. Post titles should accurately reflect the issue at hand such as "Out of memory, can't install APK's manually?" or "Stuck in boot loop after [event]." At the very least, please make a mature title and first post; we shouldn't come off as elementary-grade students.

When threads are opened, the first post should convey the circumstances of the problem, and what occurred shortly prior to the problem. We can't help you if you don't help us help you. We have been graced with such wonderfully helpful devs for a relatively discrete phone and they don't need to waste time trying to identify the problem before being able to offer help. This goes for everyone that dedicates chunks of their time to this forum.

If anyone has anything to add to this rant on etiquette, please do.

I agree, I'm 15 and I always try to keep proper nettequite so that my questions and answers look more appealing to people who can help or need help.

I agree, I haven't necessarily had any major problems. Like bricking my phone and such. But I got hooked on the whole root and custom roms back when I had my optimus v. Now this is one of my favorite sites :D sorry that was irrelevant..

yeah
im sure that heading
mms no workie
is going keep developers away
if it was a rampant issue
a letter like this could be called for
although
a letter suggesting
everyone relax
and save your egos for your online gaming
would be aprapos
maybe next time
you find yourself
being righteous
send a private message
and dont single someone out
trying
to make an example
when you no likie something

I have to agree. These suggestions are what makes a forum like this as useful as possible. It makes it easier to help others and be helped by previous experiences. Treating the forum as just some company's tech support service while asking for individual help for an individual problem is a disservice to the community and creates a less-useful mess. I understand people will occasionally need help specific to their situation, but I think we can all easily create and contribute to threads in a more useful manner. Just ask yourself - what could make my thread/post easier to find, understand and be useful for others who may have the same problem as me in the future? This seems like a better route than having tons of vaguely titled threads about individual issues or problems.

I don't care about the perceived maturity of chosen wording. That doesn't really matter.

This is as good an example as any as far as thread location goes that doesn't particularly pertain to rooting, but I felt that the root forum had a larger amount of clutter and a slightly higher grammar standard.

Yeah.

So here's the thing.

Our site rules say no chomping on people for grammar or spelling.

Yeah, it would be great if folks posted perfectly and were more descriptive in thread titles.

So our rules say that it's also ok to ask nicely when something is too hard to understand.

Anyway, yeah, this isn't root.

Drop me a line anyone, if you don't like the lock, I'm easy. Thanks. :)
