Post here if you received the OTA update.

I got my update during the night and went proceeded to install it as prompted, but it failed. I went to Device Management and it said the result was: Update failed. I downloaded what I assume is the update file from server (https://fota.t-mobile.com:433) and address listed in Device Management and have a file called delta_T939UVIJ6Plus_to_T939UVJA3 (size: 12,412,064 bytes) on my sd card in this directory:

/sdcard/download/OmaDownload.com/10475/1001/

Does anyone know how I can use this to retry the update? Running DM does nothing. I'm assuming I need to get it loaded into wherever the Software Update command looks, but not sure where that is. Thanks for any help.

After failed attempts and truncated installation, I finally received the update and full installation when these things were in place:

1. Telephone in full 3G mode (Not Edge, not fluctuating between Edge and 3G as my phone often does)

2. The phone is plugged into an electrical outlet and fully charged.

My phone sits in Edge mode around the house mostly. I accidentally found a spot that gets full 3G in the house and suddenly the phone gives me an announcement that I have a download waiting.

There was nothing left to conclude but that those two things working together had something to do with the completion of the update. I had previously been told that the download must have a full battery charge in order to receive it. But I didn't receive it until it was plugged in and in 3G.

Hope this helps someone! :)

Thank you! I will give that a try then. I received the update while on Edge and tried to install it while on Edge and not charged in. I'll give it another go in 3G.

lol yeah I have my phone charging by the only window I get full 3G coverage... here's hoping I get the update soon :)

Twice before the update, my memory card became corrupted and I was forced to format and copy my stuff back. This just happened again a few hours after the update.

For those still waiting and curious, I have no data plan and wifi was disabled at the time. 3G is very spotty around my house, so I doubt that made a difference but I'm not positive.

Thats weird. Have you tried rebooting your phone? Or possibly trying to switch from production to lab? Try to have as high a 3g signal and also that your battery is high.

After the update do we still have Android OS v 1.5 or was that upgraded?

I am unclear on what the update actually did besides add some stuff and fix some known issues...

I want to know if Android was upgraded as well.

This update is only bug fixes and some minor enhancements, it is not a firmware update so your phone will still be stuck at 1.5 after the update.

If the update installs, and then you hard reset the phone back to factory do you lose the update? Sorry i dont know more about this guys, I"m a windows mobile/iphone guy.

Im not too certain but I do think you lose the update if you do a hard reset on your phone. It would wipe everything out, even the update I believe.

I received the update a few days ago and everything seemed to have been installed just fine but I recently realized that I don't have the Where's Waldo app or the other app that we were supposed to get.

Has anyone else seen this issue? Do I maybe have to do a reset of some sort or maybe I just didn't get the real update?

From my understanding, you'll be updating your kernel with this update. In doing so, it forces every reset from the update forward to go back to the updated state. I could be wrong, but I believe that's how all kernel updates work.

@Cleric - call TMO. They'll likely send you a new phone. This is not an unheard of situation. If the update had installed correctly you would need to do nothing to see those applications.

Anyone know howto fix the static that was caused by the update? I noticied that when I press a button to turn on the phone it takes a few seconds, normal? Most phones take tenths of a sec but this phone takes like 3 seconds. Any ideas?

This is normal. Nothing to see here. Exit stage, right.

Try using the force update that was discussed in a separate thread.

thanks chad..i did that as well, got the red/blue arrows then nothing..;i spent a bit of time with customer service, looks like i only have a partial update..so they are sending me a new phone

So I never go tthe update but I'll tell you an easy way to get the update.

First get Odin, then go to this post...http://androidforums.com/samsung-be...n-images-available-latest-t-mobile-stock.html
Do what they say and get the update downloaded.

Then go to BH_Mans No TouchWiz Odin inthe All things root in this same forum.

Then remove TwMMS and replace with MMs.apk.

Then your phone will shine and be beautiful.

Like mine.

Why wait for an update if we have this?
