Help Post-Lollipop issues. (EE Handset)

Danjester

Newbie
So, my S5 updated to Lollipop last week, thanks to my network provider EE.

G900FXXU1BNL9

I backed up all my data, did the update, did a factory reset and wiped the cache partition but it's significantly slower since the update and the battery life appears to be dropping faster.

Any ideas what might be happening?

The absence of a silent mode toggle, beyond just turning notifications off entirely, is also massively irritating.

Hi Danjester!

This is not a known issue with the stock Samsung Lollipop firmware, infact, the opposite with ART in use. After your Factory Data Reset, as per #2.5 of S5 Lollipop Update Problems - Dummies Guide, was it still running slow prior to installing your apps and settings? Try running it in Safe Mode, #1.4 of the previous link, and see if it is still slow. If so, it could be a corrupt download of the update.

Mines the same, battery life when the screen is on is definitely worse. Theres also noticeably more lag than before in certain situations. Lollipop is pants imo.

Yup I have similar issues on my Three S5 since the new OS:

-Battery life is down about 50% on what it used to be
-Opening emails, the internet, anything to do with connectivity is worse/slower
-The design and layout of it is beyond hideous, not being able to see what apps are trying to notify me via the blue light unless I have the full message content showing on the lock screen is disgraceful.

I'll be reseting and getting the old OS back until this becomes anything other than a graphical designer's idea of what an OS should be, it's rubbish right now.

Exactly the same here!

Lag on scrolling, lag and jumpy in games. SMS displays sending animated circle all the time as if message is not sent although recipient tells me they have received it ok. Notifications numbers appear although there are no new SMS messages.

The icing on the cake is no silent mode. My God that stinks of being rushed to market without proper user experience testing!

I think I am going to either send my phone back to EE and let them back up all my shit and give me a new phone for wasting my time.

Another thing, have any of you seen that hidden "FLAPPY BIRD" type game. Its an easter egg in the "About" menu. You just keep tapping the v.5 entry and a lollipop appears, after that the game starts. It's bloody impossible and I want to break the neck of the person that invented it ;)

Regards

There is a silent mode its just a pain in the arse to setup. Settings/Sounds and notifications/Interruptions and priority mode. Set interruptions to never disturb and you will get a circle with a - through it icon to notify you its silent. Use priorty mode and you will see a Star icon notification. I use a widget to switch between all sounds/vibrate and priority mode (silent)

Yup another one the same.

I really wish the designers had thought through all the changes they made, not just the technical issues, but getting rid of the silent mode, not giving the interruptions setting a short cut, the annoying charged notification.

fed up and grumpy :(

There is a notification panel shortcut for the sound/interruptions modes as well, but i prefer the widget as you can tap it from the homescreen, anyway the notification sound icon shows ALL, Priority, None. Bring down the full notification panel to see the icon.
