For some reason the wallpaper displays zooomed in on the green sofa I select the whole picture, click save and then it comes back to desktop and its close up! so much so all you really see is a cushion!! will I need to obtain a higher res pic or lower? lol

LauncherPro is free to try in the market. It lets you change icons and looks pretty easily. Play around with it and post if you have questions.
