Post Your Battery Life!

First full day with the phone and hit 15% at right around 17 hours with what I would term as moderate usage. I was honestly expecting better. Hopefully this will improve over the coming days. A co-worker stated his life was not good the first few charging cycles and then did come around. So at this point I would say the verdict is still out...

Got my phone yesterday, full charge this morning. I'm on 17 hrs, 46 mins at 30% right now. I haven't charged it in the car or anything since 7 am this morning. I had 4G on all day, used Maps/Navigation for about 30 mins. I was in class for about 90 mins today (no real use in class). I used TweetCaster and Facebook a lot today. Had 3 (maybe 4) 10-15 min conversations. Non-stop texting (except that 90 mins in class). Girl friend was playing Angry birds for about 30 mins while I was in the dentist. Not sure what else she did.

This battery is incredible! I love it and could not be happier!

17-1/2 hrs, 10%... pretty hard use, including passive mapping in Sensorly. The battery seems to be improving as it becomes conditioned.

All-in-all, not bad... not bad at all :)

Ended first day on full charge last night. Phone was on from 9AM until I went to bed at 1AM. I had 20% left when I went to bed. That was with randomly playing around with the phone all day (but no calls). Will post second day test tomorrow.

So far today phone has been on for 9 and a half hours battery down to 30% with not much use. Listened to music for about 15 minutes, about 4 text messages, one call for about a minute and not much else (no web browsing). Battery life does not seem much better then my DINC at this point. It probably will be dead by 8PM. Checked what apps are using the battery and the biggest is Display at 38% and then Android OS at 23% everything else is 4 or less. I have the display set to auto dim.

I'm on my second full charge since getting the Maxx and I have to say I'm very impressed. It is very odd having a smart phone that I do not have to charge every night. I took the phone off charge yesterday at 5:55am and now almost 36 hours later my phone is at 18%. I'm running CDMA only for my network mode because I was not in a 4G area for the last couple of days. While I have not been using the phone extensively I would say it is medium level for me. I only had about a half hour of voice calls but I was doing a fair amount of e-mail, internet browsing, facebook, and gaming on it. I also did a bit of video on it.

I'm loving the phone. Great form factor with amazing battery time!

Are you in a 4G area? If not do you have network mode set at "CDMA only"? Even with 4G you should be getting much better battery time than that. I had a DINC before the MAXX and there is no comparison on battery. I'm at 36 hours on my charge and I'm at 17%.

Nop as soon as I got my phone I set it to CDMA only since I don't get 4G in my area. Wifi, bluetooth and GPS are also off. I'm now at 20% battery left after only 11h 43m. The only thing I can think of is I play words with friends (not very often) so I guess that runs in the background and also have yahoo mail running in the background. I just turned off yahoo mail and will run it tomorrow and see how things go. I will let the phone die completely tonight then charge it. I love the phone but not impressed with the battery life I'm getting. I'm running nothing different then what I ran on the DINC.

Im almost to 13 hrs with 40%

13 hours with 40% is not very good. And 11 hours to 20% is downright bad. I wonder why the battery is giving such wildly different results.

I would like to know the same. It seemed to slow the drain down after turning off yahoo mail but won't know for sure until I charge up and run it down again tomorrow. I'm now at 15 hours with 15% left. I think what would help is if people that are getting the good battery life post what apps are running then we can compare.

I also play Words with Friends a lot. I'm playing with 5 different friends and I would guess well over 2 hours of my 36 was playing that game. I also have yahoo mail running. I would guess there is some other issue.

......... and I have to say I'm very impressed. It is very odd having a smart phone that I do not have to charge every night.

While I completely agree with how great it is to finally have a smartphone with decent battery life, just remember that these lithium based batteries like to be kept "topped up". Even though you may not "need" to charge each night, doing so does not harm the device and having a fully charged battery may be helpful in the event of an emergency.

Let's hope future smartphones - hopefully including the next generation iPhone - all deploy with large capacity batteries as standard equipment. It has always seemed odd to me that these devices have traditionally come with 1200mah-1600mah capacity batteries, when 3000mah+ is clearly a better choice. Kudos to Motorola for being the first to realize this.

Battery life is like ammo: when you need it, there is no such thing as too much!

Hoppy

15hrs at 30% medium to heavy use. There is a possibility I could have gotten more. But I dont want to let mine get too low before I charge.

I wasnt getting good battery life. I then ran my maxx down until it shut off. Charged it back to 100, which took hours. Now im seeing impressive results. These lithium batteries have an internal protection circuit that shuts the device off before its totally drained, which would damage the battery. Now, if it sat on a shelf without charging for a week after it shut off, it could allow the battery to drain completely, causing damage. I do a complete discharge cycle once a month on my ipad to recalibrate the battery. Apple recommends this right on it's website.

I'm not having great results either. i am at 16 hours right now with 10% left. Adroid OS is 39% followed by voice calls at 15% and then display at 14%, phone idle is 9%, cell standby is 7%. I've been at work all night & we have a lot of signal reception issues in our office so I'm guessing that's where it is but the other day i only got like 14 hours to be completely dead when i was home with moderate usage.

Im going to give this a try.

Something interesting. I turned on my DINC and noticed that Android os is only at 2%, turned on the Maxx today and Android OS is 23%. I don't get what the difference is. I also ran the Maxx down last night until it shut it self off (15 1/2 hours). Did a full charge and we will see what happens today.

I've noticed my Android OS is high too, sometimes over 50%. I do run a ton of Widgets and widget locker. My gnex was like that too. Not sure how its affecting my battery but I am going a lot longer than my gnex and tbolt.

The battery life depends on how good the signal is. In areas where I have a good signal, wifi or 4G, I typically get around 30 hours to about 20%. At work, the phone is always trying to find a 4G signal and will only last about 9 hours. I can't switch to 3G signal only because 3G doesn't come through in the building I am in. I can't shut down data, because I need emails and use google messenger. So I just live with the shorter battery life at work. Hopefully the new update will address that issue.

So far today after the full battery drain last night I'm still at 100% battery after 2 1/2 hours being on. Last few days I would be down to 80% by now. I also still have yahoo mail turned off. We will see how today goes but so far a big improvement after full battery drain.

Ok another update for you all. I'm on 6 1/2 hours now at 90% with not much use. Will post another battery update later on tonight.

13 and an half hours, 50%. I streamed music for three solid hours (4G) this AM. Also forgot to turn off wi-fi, so it wasted some battery life searching for three or four hours. Used navigation for about half an hour or so, talked on speakerphone in the card for about 30 minutes, regular calls about that long as well. Now I'm playing music via WinAmp nonstop for a few hours just to see the result. Took a dozen or so pics, a two minute video. This is a killer device.
