Well I was exploring my phone some more today, and I noticed inside the Widgets area a Traffic widget. If you don't see the widget in the Widgets area, update your Google Maps, and it will show up...

Basically, Its a widget that lets to put in a static destination and it creates a stop light widget on one of your screens. Every time you tap the widget, it gives you an estimate on how long it will take to get to your destination.

I thought that was pretty cool, I live in SoCal and I drive the 91 fwy. everyday... it's nice to know whens a good time to leave work, or to leave to work...

Any other widgets that are a must have out there?

I checked out that widget and see that my GPS icon in the notification bar is always on.

How is your battery life with that widget?

It updates the time to arrival for a little while but then it will go to sleep after a bit.

That widget comes straight from Google so it's not going to do anything stupid.

Anyone know how to find the description of this app? On the htc website probably huh. Just wondering how it knows the time. I just installed the widget and it is giving me a reading of 17 minutes...but I'm wondering 17 minutes to where?

Depends on the location you entered, it is based on your current location and to the location you enter when you set the widget up on the screen

My battery life has not changed with that widget, but I have all background processes turned off. And auto sync on toggle. Using those 2 methods, on my stock battery, i get a little more then a work day out of my battery... I even listen to streaming pod casts all day on 4g, and netflix here and there. :)

Another Great widget I found... When you purchase "System Panel" for 2.99... it comes with an "End All" widget. It's pretty much a widget that kills all processes that are essential to keep the phone running.. it's simple, & it works.

I got the executive assistant widget when it was free app of the day on amazon. It is a very efficient way to check things such as your missed phone calls, most recent text messages, and current to do list items all in one place.

It is not cheap, but I have to admit I would consider paying for it if I somehow lost it.

What is the point of that?

Well, A lot of people are scared to use Auto Task killers, and a lot of people suggest not to use it... even the sprint store says not to use it...

so this is the first widget i've found that works well to kill tasks on a single touch... just thought it was a nice widget.

Yeah, I didn't mean it in a harsh way, and I'm sure the widget is nice.

I meant what is the point of killing tasks in the first place?

There's a fast reboot app that seems to be the job when needed and there's re-start.

You said - kill all tasks essential to keeping the phone running.

So - why do you want to kill apps essential to keeping the phone running?

yeah I didn't think it was harsh.

Well i spend 2-3 hours a day driving... i open apps, can't always go through the process of quitting programs properly while im driving... or a lot of programs just dont close... to have a widget that just closes everything on a single touch, is convenient for me while I drive.

You can also do this from the notification pulldown menu. I really don't recommend it though. Only use task killers to find problem apps. System Panel is a lot more than a kill all widget.

I would also like to add... You shouldn't be doing THAT much multitasking while driving anyway. Whenever I see someone with their phone in their hand while driving, I pull them over.

Yeah I agree... Are you a cop? I've always wondered if just having the phone in your hand will get you a ticket, or do I have to have it up to my ear?

Haha. It would be sort of funny and weird at the same time if he was not a cop and he pulled people over. :D

Back on topic, since I have not had my Sprint HTC EVO 3D that long I have not had a lot of time to mess with the new widgets for it. I guess my favorite widget at the moment is the 4G toggle switch because now I have a 4G capable handset.

I like a large number of widgets that include: Beautiful Widgets (from Androd Market), Gauge Battery Widget (looks like cars spedometer), HTC Quick Record, HTC Fortune Cookie, HTC Translator, HTC Today in History, and last but not least HTC Tip Calculator.

Also, in my opinion the 4G, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, Auto-Sync, Timeout, and Brightness "settings" widgets are a must!

And thanks to the OP for the info. on the stoplight widget...was wondering what that did.
