Post Your Last Purchase

October 10th at 11 AM - the release of the U.S. Mint's 2025 Silver Eagle with laser-engraved Navy privy mark in observance of the Navy's 250th birthday. I was surprised to find myself in a virtual waiting room due to high traffic! I was going to buy two of them, but was limited to one. Purchase complete! Then the Darling Bride suggested that SHE could buy one as well... so I used her phone to wait some more and purchase a second one. We had to use a different address because of a household limit of one... but we got it done!

I ordered a quarter inch drive torque wrench to install the torque sensor I have ordered for my bike. :) The rear wheel and the derailleur attach to the torque sensor so it is important that it is torqued to the bike per specification. Too tight can harm the sensor and not enough could cause a rear wheel becoming lose. I have a digital torque screwdriver but it isn't very much tool. If it takes any effort to torque the screw or bolt, the hand is in the way to see the display. There isn't a break over. I looked all over town and all I could find were 3/8 drive or half. Amazon fixed me up.

I got free shoes from Amazon. I ordered them, they were delivered... but a "glitch in the system" reflects that they haven't even been shipped! So I have to wait for the shoes to be delivered, so I can return them for a refund - but that leaves me with a pair of shoes for which I didn't pay. In an effort to return these and do the right thing, I spoke with Amazon CS who effectively said there's nothing they can do to generate a return for an item that, effectively, doesn't exist. Makes me wonder how many millions of dollars Amazon loses each year due to "glitches in the system"! But at least my conscience is clear. I tried.

All that is figured into the price. Like when you get a defect on an accessory to a product, and they tell you to keep it and they ship you another, and you wind up with essentially two perfectly good products.
But at least my conscience is clear. I tried.
That's the best you can do. In many cases, the cost of restocking is more than the value of the product.

I got one of these on clearance. I can extend my patio time a few more days a year.

The day started with a simple oil change and tire rotation before our big road trip. That turned into a worn-out serpentine belt AND a tire with damaged sidewall. After the belt replacement, I had to drive to Costco an hour away for a road hazard warranty replacement of the tire (because the Costco 30 minutes away didn't have it in stock). What started as a one-hour task ended up taking ALL. DAY. LONG. At least we're ready for the road trip.

I ordered an optical splitter and a six foot optical cable. I need the splitter and cable so I can output audio to the new TV streamer for my aids while continuing to send audio to my soundbar. My TCL TV only allows one designated output and optical is the only connection that both streamer and bar have in common.

I haven't been out to pick them up, yet, but I got my cigar order in today.
I still have a sealed pound of my favorite pipe tobacco in my beer fridge. I vowed that I would smoke one last bowl in my favorite briar for the road. I haven't had a smoke since December 3rd 2023. That was a long run... from age ten to seventy one. :) Do I miss smoking... not nearly as much as I anticipated.
