Posting links manually

Suddenly I can no longer post links manually, if I insert a URL after [url= it automatically turns into a link and I can't have it be the phrase I want associated with the link. How do I turn this off? It was gone for a long time and I prefer it that way - I never use the link buttons in forum posts.

Some of this browser-dependent. Firefox will not get out of my way and insists on helping me.

If that's your trouble as well, here's my workaround:
- type the phase you want associated
- highlight it
- use the link tool, enter the url there

Yeah. Sux if you're a fast typist. But - at least it works and seems faster than any other noodling around I've tried.

I use Firefox exclusively, and this just started happening again....it had mercifully gone away :/ I use the button so infrequently I had forgotten how to use it, thanx for reminding me! I still would like the putin to turn it off.

It doesn't do that with my Safari so it's some hula dance between FF and AF until it's all... you know.

I'll betcha FF is doing this as part of the advanced spell checking nonsense.

Just makes ya wanna say Gort, baringa on this one - btw - happy new year.

Yes, Kelmar, that is exactly what is happening. I rarely use forum control buttons, it's faster to just type them in. Just started again today. It had mercifully gone away for awhile, but it's back now. Make it go away again, pretty please! :)

I'm clueless (that's what Phases is for ;))... but I prefer to type them out too. Easier and faster IMO.

Have you checked all the settings in FF to make sure it's not something you can control?

It wasn't there yesterday, and now it's here, today, so I really have no clue what to turn on or off, because I didn't set anything to make it happen!

For whatever reason the ability to post links manually is back - if it was fixed, thank you!

USE THE NOPARSE CODE

SURROUND YOUR URL WITH [noparse ] LINK HERE [/ noparse] <-- REMOVE THOSE SPACE

triple post ftw....it does work, idk why my original post freaked on me

noparse will break the linkage, but it does work

It's not the link itself I want to show, but thank you, anyways, I've never heard of . The situation has been resolved, I can manually post my links now :)
