Potential former iPhone user making the jump

Biaviian

Android Enthusiast
Hello all. I came here hoping to get answers to my Android questions. I have been using an iPhone since the 3g version came out. Before that I was strictly a BB user. I am about to make a job change and the new employer only uses Sprint, which I can't stand, so it looks like I'm going to be paying for my own cell service for the first time in my adult life. Due to that I think I'll be going to Verizon and making the jump to Android. The reason for the shift to Android is because I am not a fan of the limitations Apple puts on the OS so I can't use it unless I am able to jailbreak it. Also I can't stand the dimensions of the new iPhone.

So I came here looking for answers to some questions before I decide to make the jump. For some reason the thought of making the jump to a new platform is causing me much stress.

Thanks DC. This is a crazy good site. I answered all of my questions by doing some reading. My biggest concern was a replacement for "Lockinfo" and it sounds like digital assistant is what I need. I also was looking for a way to lock individual apps and I found that. The only other things missing are a way to control my AppleTV (it sounds like there are a few potential solutions) and a way to get the phone to automatically read me the sender and subject of emails if I am using the headphone jack. I haven't found a solution for that yet.

Hey Biaviian, glad to here you are finding solutions for your answers!

I found this app on the google play store: Voice Alerts looks like it could provide you the answers you need for your email voice notifications.

Otherwise i searched on the google play store for them here: Voice Alerts -Search Google Play Store

There is a long list of them, you might just want to read the reviews and see which one does what you want the best :)

Hope this helps and feel free to ask more questions :D
